Topic: my tach aint tachin

i have a 1st gen truck i swaped out the 80 modle harness for a 83 harness i also swaped out the cluster from the 80 to a 83. so now the truck has all 1983 eletrical  when a turn the key over to run the tach moves a fraction of a inch but when i crank the truck it just sits on 0 rpms i found the wire off the coil  with my test light it shows a pulse so i know this is where it goes my question is why would my tach move if its not hooked up and also i found a yellow wire that the fsm said was the tach wire tested it and ir didnt do ANYTHING

if you had used a 79-82 cluster it would have been plug and play,  using the 83  requires finding the right wire and putting it in the back of the cluster
