here some info on em..

X-joint is an aftermarket replacement U-joint for 5-297X & 5-760X U-joints. It’s made from forged 8620 gear steel, through hardened for increased strength. The cross is coated for added protection against wear. It comes packaged with full circle clips and grease fittings.

Today i tore apart my cases and resealed em cause they were leakin like a sift.. I then put em back in the truck with my new skys x-member

hey kc, you should take the bottom main piece of steel and put it on top of the 2 smaller pieces and use something to space it up a little. Thats what I did on mine, you can gain some serious clearance that way. Eventually i want to put the 2 pieces on the top of the frame weld em up and the bolt the main piece to it and have a flat belly

I was gonna do it that way but the back case was hittin the floor boards so i figured for now i do it this way.. Eventually i wanna make it a flat bottom like you were sayin and weld the plates to the top of the frame.

Im just tryin to get this thing together, i bought a house and escrow closes the 12/18 so once i move in i will tear into er again and get everything the way i want it. Im hoping to have 40's or 42's by the end of dec. How much did you pay for your irok 42's? Im thinkin about either gettin those or the 40" ltbs

Yeah I heard about what happened, what a bummer, I hope he gets everything back... My house is at the end of northwood, I think I will be down for a run by then, ill check back with ya next week maybe we can get a group..

if you are going with 40's or 42's you will break those chro mo axles in no time. I have the same axles in my rig and i have broken five of them on 37's. Also if you dont run the yukon "superjoints" in there axles they will not lifetime warranty the axles if you break them. And if you erver need to get one replaced under warranty, tell them you are only running 35's. Anything bigger and they will not warranty them

well thanks for the info, but if i run a weaker ujoint i doubt i will have any problems with axle breakage...at least for now

Just read through your build-up and saw what you broke was the birf eliminator kit...Im runnin a 44 in the front, the outer yokes are alot stronger than on the Birf kit.

Ballistic is still laggin on my steering.....They shipped me my heims but no DOM....Got some .156 wall dom for my front driveline, HOLY

that stuff is thick!!! Well for a d-line any way.....also got new balljoints for the front and some brake stuff.. pics later..

here soon i will get chromos for the short side and some ox joints!!
My front axle was originally a full width chevy 44, i cut 3" off the long side tube making the width around 64" total. This allows you to use a late 70's wagoneer long side instead of a custom length. The short side is still stock chevy and the perch distance is the same as toyota. That is why i only have the long side 4340!

Yea actually i worked on er for about 6 hrs last night... Got my front axle together, front shocks mounted, shifters for the case installed, front and rear drvielines made....Doesnt seem like a lot but i completely rebuilt the front with axles u=joints new ball joints greesed up all my wheel bearings blah blah blah..

Things left to do:

-fill up front axle and cases with gear oil
-make/install steering
-install drive lines
-install calipers and brakelines
-mount up rear shocks
-get some warn hubs and install

Its gettin close....
