It got a  scope. But its not exactly a long range weapon. So I was thinking a wide field of view with a 3x or something would be cool

i had a super cheap BSA red dot on my 10/22 for awhile.  Takes awhile to get sighted in but i liked it.  Forgot i left it on and the batt died on me.  In all honesty, i would stick with the iron sights.  They'll do fine as far out you can shoot with a .22.  I HAD to get an optic because my tapco stock wont allow use of the stock sights.

Don't underestimate the power of a .22.  I've got both 10/22 and 10/22T and the Target model will out shoot the stock one, even with the same ammo.  I run Remington ammo, and not the hollow points, they jam up.  I have a Bushnell 3X9-40 Banner scope with Leopold scope mounts. (on both)  The mounts cost more than the scope.  I'm looking into upgrading to a better optic scope.  If you do plinking, the Bushnell is fine.  But if your spending all day, for roughly three days shooting sage rats, you want better optics.  Or your eyes go  :o  :conf: :ack:

:reg:  You can't pay me to run remington .22 ammo!  Never had so many ftf, leaves copius amounts of unburnt powder behind, quickly clogging up my marlin model 60, and only ammo I've run that got jammed in the chamber while another round was jacked into the back of it and blew out the open action  :yikes:

You know, Burris makes a nice little rimfire scope, and you can snag them fairly cheap off ebay  ;)  I just got a new Burris fullfield 2 for my .308 and have been eyeing their rimfire scopes too.  http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=burris+scope&_armrs=1&_from=R10&_ipg=&_sop=1

Better get a start on it, they're pushing for it sooner than later.  We don't need to invite the UN to further meddle in our business, we need to tell them to pound sand!

Nate what ammo you run?  Out of the thousands of rounds I've put through my .22s, I've never had any problems.  A few misfires and jam ups, but I'm happy with it.  I'd love to shoot nothing but CCI but I'm not rich!!

As for scopes, I'd love to get a nice Burris for my .22s.  But the next scope I buy will be when I clean up my dad's old .300 Savage.  It's got a crappy scope on it.  I want to get a Leopold or Burris for it.  It all depends on what I like at the time I purchase one.

I have a 10/22 in the Nordic Components AR22 kit with an A2 stock, DPMS Panther target grip, and rifle length (12") freefloat rail tube forend. Has a Tasco 4-16x40mm scope with Stoney Point target knobs. Very accurate with most ammo. Also have a Ruger Charger with 10.5" Bull barrel, in the Blackhawk Knoxx Axiom stock and 2-7x32mm AIM scope that is more accurate than the rifle!

i got my 10/22 a few years back when they were still 159 bucks and iv tried a couple scopes on it and they are just a waste of time, the sights are dead on.
but thats not what your askin here is it?
your asking about optics on the cheap so check this place out they got a lot of cheap cool stuff and i have always wanted to try them out. A guy i know got a cheap $21 rear ar sight and said it was pretty damn decent

For plinking and general shooting it's currently federal, the stuff you used to be able to get at walmart in 550 rd bricks for $9, which is now around $14 a box.  After that's gone I have a little old school federal and cci blazer.  For total accuracy or shooting aminals I really want dead, it's cci stinger all the way!  Far as I know it's far and away the fastest .22 lr ammo out there.

I'm hoping to get a nice enough tax refund to be able to buy a new .17hmr rifle next year  :crossed:  Those things are crazy accurate!

I've never had any luck with Federal.  The last time I went rat hunting, it was jam central with them.  And misfire like crazy.

I like the .17, but they have a tendency to not like the wind.  But a little firecracker for sure.

there is also the 17 conversion for the 10/22 but that is a different story.

that would be cool if you found a $100 ruger at a pawn shop or something

Indeed!  Savage is now making some very good firearms, but the only thing keeping me from buying one is I absolutely hate their magazines.  I'll first be looking at what marlin has to offer, and if they have something with a tube magazine like my model 60 I'll buy it.

You know, a friend has a 10/22 and it's much less picky with ammo than mine, and he even shoots remington with no issues, but after looking into it I found more people had issues with the remington .22 than any other so  :dunno:
