so after a long idle period without a 4x.......... i decided to get back into it and bought myself another 4Runner. seeing as how i already have a little pickup truck, a 4runner would be more practical to use and own as a wheeler. technically i didnt pay hardly anything out of pocket for it since i got this in a trade for another vehicle i had.

here's what i started with.... engine freshly rebuilt, 06 4Runner sport model drivers seat (most comfortable seat ive ever sat in  :driving:) had some 02 4Runner wheels that had no place being on a rig like this and had a poor excuse for an exhaust which was held on by sitting on the frame rail  :screwy: other than that, nothing special and pretty much bone stock.

my current plans for it are to install the downey 3" lift i have that came with the truck. ill be looking out for hy-steer stuff but its not a priority. also looking to do the ifs wider rear axle to match the front. i have some power doors ill also be looking to place in there too. the truck is an original SR5 so it also came with ac...... still has r12 but need to recharge it. looking to play around with it a bit.

the front bumper didnt look so happy so i slapped on a 89-94 style 2wd front bumper for grins and actually looks good. ill probably pick up a 4x one that sits a bit wider and taller to cover the right areas. i also got a deal on some nicer more proper wheels for it rollin with 16x10's on 265/75's. should look better once the wider rear axle finds its way on there.

newer style bumper and 84 grill was replaced with one off a 87 4runner (4 slot instead of 6  8) )

also took the op to clean up the rear.... removed the mud flaps, cut out the stock bumper tabs, removed the wind flap under the gate, and removed the spare tire out from underneath it. also in the mix i got lucky and scored on a downey 4-1 header and had the exhaust system replaced with a magnaflow 2 1/4" catback with the tail pipe tucked close to the body as well.

right now, im just waiting on some new spring bushings to slap the 3" springs on there. once that is done ill be working on grabbing an IFS axle and redoing the brakes

slowly but surely this will come along to be a nice trail rig.

Thats a great looking seat!   The PO couldn't find a passenger seat to match?   Lol
85 4runner, 36" Iroks, locked 5.29's, 30 spline Longs, MC 4.7:1 single case, bobbed 12"
96 4runner 2 1/2" daystar, 285/70/17 Pro Comp Xtreme Allterrains on black 17" FJ wheels
88 ext cab pickup bone stock, 1st gen tacoma wheels wrapped in 30x9.50x15 BFG Allterrains

apparently not....... but im not too hugely concerned about the passenger seat since i hardly carry passengers and the seat from what some of my passengers have said is actually comfortable so  :dunno:
