I have searched, but not found what I was looking for. I am looking at putting a taco housing in my Hilux. I just got some 2in BS rims, and am not a big fan of them. I had to paint them because US wheel only sells them un-finished! Wally world scratched them a little installing them because the paint I used was not so great. (I thought it would be, its great on my sliders!)

Anyway, I would like to get some wheels with standard off set and widen my axles. I am considering going the "BIG MIKE" route with a diamond front and a taco rear.... When I do a diamond in the front, I would like to do a three link set up at the same time.

I really need to know if the taco housing will fit a V6 third?

No it will not.

You could get the elocking rear end and use youre v6 gears ONLY IN THAT or if you get the 8.4 (comes stock Open) you will have to buy a new gearset and locker

so the taco e-locker will fit in a hilux axle, but the hilux 3rd will not fit in the taco axle. Got it.

Yes... The only way you will get the elocker third into a mini truck axle is to mod it. The v6 gears are the same as the elocker.

The taco third (both) will not fit in either the elocker or the 8.4 rear. The elocker third member has the extra stud and its all different. The 8.4 is a bigger (wider) pattern and uses 14mm bolts rather then 12mm.

The 8.4 is still a 8" ring gear and the elocker is still an 8" also. I think that the 8.4 is stronger because of the bearing supports that it has and also the pinion bearing is HUGE compared to the standard 8".
