Sick truck.  I like your rear shackel set up.  Does it make a difference when you flex out??

YOTA yota

I don't think it will flex more or less than setting it up the normal way but it will be a lot lower than that...

89sastoyo

low is good for sure I'm diggin the build and yeah swapping vins usually is the easiest for sure less of a hassle. MY buddy had an 01 taco registered as an 81 trekker haha no one found out an he got pulled over in it to.

I learned how to weld on my own.  Just remember the more you do it the better you get and be sure the metals clean the cleaner it is the stronger/easier it is to weld.

On the shackles, It looks like they might bind at droop? if the shackle pulls forward enough and twists it looks like it will hit the frame? Just an observation.  Looks nice though

YOTA yota

Yea, I might have to end up getting some boomerang shackles..

We'll see once i get it done

minicrawlin

you can tear out about 80 % of those wires if you go through them. Check out pumpkin toy's build he has a huge chunk of useless wires discarded. looks nice and clean now. Nice build man!

Ok, today I took my intake off and through a new gasket in with silicone on it cus the last one was leaking coolant. Hopefully this works and I can get it fired up and broken in either tommorow or Wednesday...

And I started cuttin up pieces for my flatbed so I'm gonna try and get that done...

Pics coming soon.

Nice build! I helped a friend do this to his taco but we left the shortbed that was bobbed and he bobbed the front of the bed. The older trucks are easy to swap vins on. In most cases the frame is whats titled and i remember this from a few issues at the bodyshop i worked at. Aslong as you have 3 matching in most states your good...atleast thats how it is here in CO

From the looks of the wiring im guessing that you have a harness from a truck with a/c and the heater box is non a/c. We just ran in to that on the other truck i just finished cab swapping.

Looks like you are on the right track...cant wait to see more.
87 longbed bobbed 12inches, locked, geared,Tacoma dash, 3rz swap Its a never ending project.

So I got my shock hoop and shocks in, everything needs to be welded in though. Had to do some cutting and grinding to get in above the axle since I pushed it forward a couple inches. All thats left to do on the rear is finish welding shock hoop n taps, get some degree shims, weld on my TG diff. armor and finish my flatbed.

Put doors and fenders on it..

Got Wednesday off of school and work so I'm gonna try and FINALLY get this thing running and finish up a whole bunch of little stuff. Thanksgiving break is coming up in two weeks so I'm gonna try and get this thing on the road :talkingn: We'll see how that goes...

Pics!!

I need to paint this thing...

TG spring hanger
TG highsteer w/ flat pitman arm
TG diff covers, housing gusset n ball gussets/shock mounts
TG u-bolts
TG brake lines
Dave'z Shock hoops
Dave'z anti death wobble shackles
Procomp 12" shocks
Stock 48" ruf

And tonight got my rear hoop welded in

I'm really happy with the work Dave and his guys did. It came out just I how I wanted it too. It's really low, I'm about 6'2" and I'm a lil bit taller than it. I flexed it out on the forklift and it did pretty good, only a couple inches of up-travel and droop for daaayyss. I will deffinately need to make bumpstops if I want the shocks to last.

I got monday, tuesdayand thursday off this week so hopefully I can finish my flatbed, make a square front ds, mount my seats, put my ps in, grind off whats left of the stock crap on my frame in the back and paint everything... And hopefully go test it out in the next week or two

89sastoyo

lookin good you said its low whats the frame hieght? Are you planning on running bigger tires?

Everything they did at davez looks good for sure.

Nice!! Hows that place in Vacaville? Might have to go up there one day...

85yotabox

the place in vacaville is preyyt cool. theres a good aray of trails from easy to really hard.  its not super big but you could spend a whole day there.  im guna start using it as a tester for new parts so i can break there instead of a couple houres away.
just wondering, where do you live?
