wet passenger side floor board. cab leak?
« on: Oct 14, 2009, 06:16:55 PM »
so i had my first real rain today with my 4runner and the passenger floorboard was soaked. I think the housing that holds my fan that is leaking, i think the water is going in my fresh air intake and leaking out of my fan box. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? where is the water supposed to go? Its not like a can just siicone it up there then my fan would be submerged in water. Im hoping some one here might have a solution to my problem cuz its makin my 4runner stink. Thanks

X2 if you look under the passenger side fender you will see a hose coming down from the firewall, try running a stiff wire up it.

the fresh air drain comes out on each side of the cab,  on the pass side its close to where the coax for the radio antenna goes into the cab,  you can fit 3 fingers in the flat hole,  mine was blocked with pine needles

this is different than the a/c drain that drains to water from the air box

You can take a towel and wrap it over the end of your garden hose. set it on the top of the cab and turn it on. Then check inside for the leak.
Dr.Maxwe001 – well i have a 15 gal compressor now and if I gett he 60  and then use the 15 as a reserve that wil give me 75 gal  thats close to 80 isnt it ?

no, no , no , no!!!!

if you take off the plastic fender liner take a flash light and reach up as far high and back as you can you will see a rusted out hole.  also there is a spot right where the harness goes to the cab where 3 or 4 panels go together, it collects water easy. directly on the other side is the cowl where leavs build up. you have a rusty hole my friend.
almost all of these i have seen have this problem,  check both sides.

to fix  clean off the rust prime it.  mix up the playdough like jbweld stix and pack it in both sides to fill the hole
then fiberglass.
i would pull the fenders and the cowl cover. it is very easy to do, just need time.

i would say 2 people 6 to 8 hrs of fun
