My DD, I drive it to work and to trails that are close to the house. It's fun to see people's faces.
1984 Toyota Pickup, EFI with duel cases, 5.29's in the diffs, 4" Trailer HD leafs in the front, Chevy's with 3" blocks and a track bar/pan hard bar in the rear with full exo cage.

Those are both cool. Nice bed on the black one. What's with the 5 shifters?

It's a mechanical rear driveshaft disconnect that mounts to the tail housing of the rear t case.

When you shift the lever forward(that zinc coated? tab on left) it disengages the rear driveshaft from t case output. I've noticed that some people aren't familiar with this add on. If you interested in learning more about them or obtaining one, do a web search for Rear Drive Disconnect, For Toyotas

Wow. Never seen one before. Thought you needed a D300 or aftermarket case for that. Really cool.

what's the purpose? why have it?

So you can do burn turns for one, with the rear driveshaft disengaged and park brake set, you can turn on a dime with just the front wheels turning. Works great if you're in a tight spot and don't want to or can't back up like on a steep climb and say your front end just slid out of the the line you were trying to run. Also, if you're getting to vertical on a climb and your front tires start lifting off the rocks, you can do the same to help pull the front back down. With the rear disconnected and locked, the front wheels will hunt for traction and "dig" your tuck back into the obstacle.
