83 Jdm as flop build, ditched the 88

well im new to toyotas but not to trucks. im big into diesel's and recently bought a start of a project crawler...

1988 toyota
3.0l v6  :shake_head:
about 50k on it
5spd

sas trail gear swap
85 toy axle
gusseted, rock armor
4'' trailgear springs (springs removed)
sky boomrang shackles
longfield 30splines
long field heatreated ring and pinions
yukon 5.29's
detroit locker
long field hub gears
trail gear thurrion eliminator kit
arp knuckle studs
allpro high steer

rear axle
5.29
detroit locker
longfield heat treated ring and pinions
trail gear 5'' springs (springs removed)

38x12.5x15 TSL bias

its just a start. i picked it up for a good price for a start.. if the 3.0 goes will swap in something diffrent. still needs some stuff, im going to get some 35'' bfg crawlers and trail ready's, winch, and probably a exo or just interior cage and dual cases, and get rid of the nasty diamond plate...

im looking for people to go wheeling with in oregon, if you ever want to let me tag along let me know!!! and its going to be trailered most places....

thanks!! i have only had it about a week or so.. i broke the welds on the front bumper this weekend going to the towers up hillockburn in colton.. but like i stated, its just a start!!

colton is out towards mollala.. its got some decent trails if you know where to go. its probably 40 min from portland... i want to go to some diff places but with people that know where they are going..

hey man  why don't you check out browns camp?  it's in the tillamook forest. ohv area pretty bad a$$ there. :biggthumpup:   i'm living here in mcminnville.    i do alot of wheeling in the trask moutains.

i use to always go to browns riding quads but have not been for probably five years. i am trying to get a trip to browns camp on the 3rd

i would love to go on the 3rd.   but have'nt been able to gather  the funds up to go.
i'm laid off right now and the change to go is needed for the family.

yeah that would be awesome! its still just planning though nothing is set in stone yet, yeah i was driving it alot last week, have not been driving it as much since i have two other vehicals much more street worthy lol

anyone know of a good cage builder around here?? i want a interior cage and some re-welding done.. i have not got a welder wired up since our new shop went up

dude I have a fab shop.... let me know what you need and I will hook ya up nice for sure! I have a badass tube bender and bend-tech pro to design the cage in! that cummins is soooooo sick man... I have a 92 dodge with the 12v cummins and it is a beast and has never let me down!

well perfect man i will deff get a hold of you when i have some extra cash.. im dying to make this truck my own, i hate driving something someone else built lol

aand yeah i love my cummins,it gets daily driven, does sled pulling, runs 13's, and will beat most anything on the street within reason, its a beast for sure!! i love her

for sure man.. I am getting ready to put a cage in mine and do some bumpers and a few other tubing goodies so you can check all that out.... my cummins has a banks power pack and some pump mods and does very well hauling the yota have never had it to the track though

yeah for awhile the dodge was my only toy so i took it out to see what it would do.. its pretty fun spinning thru fourth in 4wd at the track

and i wil deff wanna check that out.. i would like to do the cage, new bumper, and some more stuff on the bed to make it a little stronger

hey my buddy has some 35inch crawlers he's trying to sell or trade. My opinion not shooting you down but i would run bigger then a 35 at browns cause its pretty gnarly rutted out stuff and huge rocks lol. I mean i 35s wont hurt but i just wouldnt spend as much money as crawlers are on that small of a tire. expecially if you can trailer it:)

yeah i plan on going 37's at least... i dunno about krawlers though that price tag is pretty big, might do a 37x13.5x15 bias irok

fa sho i want 40s so bad lol. But I had 37s on mine i loved them in the snow they did work i could just plow snow like a foot above the tire haha. but I diffed out a lot on the rocks.

a 4.7 gear set in one t/case.   is pretty common.     but not my cup of tea. i like the duals my self.

i have never owned a truck with duals... whats the diff, advantages/disadvantages?

i geuss the selection of gears are obviously better on duals.     the advantage of a single case would be less hang ups underneath.   that's just a couple. but skid plates do wonders.
