As soon as i save up some extra cash i want to buy one of those quick detach steering wheels. After you remove the steering wheel there is a security plate that locks in place on the exposed steering shaft.

Just noticed some A-hole f'd-up my passenger door lock.

Looks like they just wanted to see if they could get in. Door was unlocked, nothing missing (that I can see), but the lock is slightly indented and the key doesn't work anymore.........

Any gotcha's/useful tricks for getting the lock out (inside door panel is easy enough).

Hope I can fix it.......

Tie a rope to the driveshaft then thread the rope up behind the drivers seat, put a loop in the rope and place it above the drivers seat on the headliner. When the thief takes the truck the rope drops down and rips his head off. Quick and cheap.

I have been thinking about this for a while.

I really think some of the thieves might be using the interweb against us. I think they are casing our rig using PBB, and TTORA.

Think about we all have decals that say Marlin, Pirate, TTORA, CA4WD, and out 4by club. I know I have a PBB sticker on my front stinger. How hard is it for a crook who is slightly smarter than we think to look up the websites and see our rigs. Alot of guys put their hometown in their contact info. And this site you can see where you live on a damn google map!!!!!

I don't have any solutions for this, but I am gonna bring this up to my club. We need to get together and show each other how to prevent theft like switches, GPS, and alarms. And for god sakes don't post pictures of your kill switches or discuss the details of your system in the public forum. Everybody is on the web now days.

I have a set up that works quite well. It uses some relays and ......... well, It's not hard to set up and not expensive to make but works great! I used it on my old IROC Camaro and I installed one in a classic Mustang with no trouble at all. I'd be willing to help anyone set one up if they want.

Maybe I could bring some plans or even draw it out for you if we have just such a 'security party'.

A few things i have always wanted to do. people can find toggle switches pretty easy. you can hide them well but there is still a possibility they could find it. so... hie your switch. buy what is called a reed switch and hide it in your dash. it is a magnetic switch. so thus you just keep a magnet on your dash and move it to another location to activate your anti theft.

Another thing i wanted to do to my truck is buy a GPS tracking system for it. Not anti theft GPS, but like what companies use to track their fleet vehicles. For 2 reasons. If i go wheelin with my friends and i dont come home, my family/friends can locate my vehicle (GPS is GLOBAL remember). And if some punk steals my vehicle i can track his

while im calling the cops or catching up to him to do some good ol' western justice

... This GPS system is expensive, but I like the added anti left security and the multi purpose use for it. I do like the padlock to the shifters, but could be easily defeated if thought out in advance.

I have a wierd outlook on vehicle thefts and breakins. I figure if a thief wants it he will find a way to get it. Why lock the door so they bust your window and you have to replace that AND what they steal. If they want some stock seats, my cheap stereo, or whatever you can find, cool. take it, seats $40, stereo $50, replacement glass can run a bit more pricey. I would rather catch them in the act too thus the GPS and i believe what are called "loud kill devices" ie Car alarms and making the truck crank but not start, rev but not drive, as apposed to a starter disconnect where they cant start it but it doesnt make any noise. or label a switch to your air horn "kill switch" so if the idiot is stupid enough to think you are going to label it you and the rest of the neighbors are waking up to you running out with a 12ga loaded with 1oz slugs. dont #&^@ with my truck!

... and i would like to setup video surveillance from govt satellites to see who is slashing my valve stems... im on my 3rd one... pay no attention to the man in the bush watching you...

Cool! I was also thinking since not everybody knows each other we could PM those who will be there the details of the time and exact location to help further secure the ideas being used in our rigs. I figured that was simple enough without too much trouble. Then that way it's pretty much a 'members only' sorta deal.

And it should be a BYOT party also....(Bring Your Own Tools) at least what you have or might need to work on your rig.

how bout instead of a security party, a stakeout party we could find someone that lives in a shady part of town leave a nice built rig out front as bait and just wait for somethin to happen if it does we'll call the cops to remove the bloody lifeless pulp from the front yard
