I worked on my piles this weekend for a couple hours..was able to get the engine harness out... wasnt to hard at all!

SpeedFreak

Hey man this is the guy you bought it from, did you get that head gasket fixed?

chim

No not yet.. Im going to get the body off first before I do any engine work.. that way its easier access... :yesnod:

WHITE_TRASH

If you have never worked with a 3rd gen wiring harness you'll love it...  The early trucks are fawking nightmares to deal with compared to them...  Everything is separate and put together with some thought...  I'd love to take that red body off your hands but my wife would kick my ass. :gap:
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

The harness was way easier than I expected! It was encouraging because electrical is not my strong point!

I was thinking of just hauling the body off to the scraper after I strip it to get some $$ for it.. but maybe I should leave it together for a while? Trade me some parts for it.. You know your wife will fall in love with it ;)

WHITE_TRASH

Uhh No, she's be pissed if I changed the direction of the truck yet again.... :hahaha: Check out the trashy trailer build in the tow rig section...  That's what's taking up our time and making the mess around here right now. :gap:

haha.. I saw that!! yeah..  with that thing, you are not going to have room for anything for a while!

chim

Friday I worked on getting the body off of the 92...

Then rocked a new lowrider  :yesnod:

The wrastled myself a rolling chassis!

chim

Here are some before pics of chassis before power washing...

Here are some after shots..  btw - can anyone identify this tranny? Im guessing its a R150f???? with a chain drive t-case for sure...

WHITE_TRASH

Looks like a G-58.  Is there a disconnect on the driver side tube coming out of the diff?

chim

Im not sure what disconnect you are talking about.. but I took your idea and compared my pics to the ones on Marlins site and it does look like a G-58.. Are these any good? Do they use the same dual case adapter as the W56 if I use dual gear driven cases?

WHITE_TRASH

It's a G series so it's rather weak, even if there is an adapter I wouldn't use it...  A W56 will drop right in there and make your life way easier.

As for teh disconnect it is a lot like the disconnect you see on dodge and jeep front ends.  It disconnects the inner shaft so there is no bind due to having drive flanges.  It is all part of the shift on the fly ability of the G series.

Hey Chim do you have any interest in selling the door latch backer? It looks like both Runners have grey interior so I figured you would end up with extras.

Im not sure what piece you are talking about??

crawlerdad

I didn't know what to call this. This is off my old truck, I need grey for my runner.

First to second gen runners are different.  They look the same but they mount differently.

Too bad it wont work I would have said Yes I do!

whitey1

I got a couple. parting out a grey 88 4runner

chim

Did a little bit of work today.. got the dashes torn out. I am going to swap them because one is in better condition that the other.. but I need to swap vin numbers before I put the good one back in.

chim

This is usually my day to rock some work on the runner.. But before I could work on it I had to get the oil pan gasket changed on the daily...

Then afterwards I worked on getting the peddle clusters swapped out from auto to clutch.. here are a couple pics...

chim

Just bought an axle last night... hub to hub... 1985 - stock gears... super clean! $180!!!

Halladay

coming along good man! nice work...

84t0y

looks nice, wish i could take my body off and pressure wash everything.

chim

Thanks guys! It doesnt seem like much is happening yet.. but small tedious things are coming together..  just nothing major to show for it yet...

84t0y - The body is surprisingly easy to pull off.. in fact even easier on a truck!

84t0y

oh im sure i could do it, but im not gonna just because its more work then its worth.
