After just over 14 years of service I got canned.

Reasons given were; Continued problem with following manager direction.

Continued refusal to complete tasks in a timely manner.

Nice, I've bent over backward to do what those asses have asked with very few acceptions.  My boss completely blew up a situation yesterday because he had no idea what was going on down on the water, and that seemed to be the frosting on the cake.  He also said I took break yesterday after getting a call for a broken down fishing boat sitting at our dock, but what he didn't know was that while he thought I was sitting in the shop taking break I was actually calling down to see if we had another boat to switch out rather than sit there working on the boat with the customer on it.

I asked if they at least did it in a manner that allowed me to collect unemployment and they said yes and pointed to a line on the separation report, but looking at it again I see no indication that I'd be able to get unemployment.  I hope I can get in and get my paperwork started today, just need to clean up and throw on some less disgusting clothes.

I knew it was coming, I said it months ago and it was part of why I've been trying to pay my debt down faster lately, but that'll be little help in the grand scheme of things.  As much as my job sucked at times, which seemed to be less lately, this is going to suck much worse!

If unemployment kicks in and I can sell a few things, I'm actually going to try and take at least one month off.  My back needs a break, I was hurting it twice a week at work.  If I can piece together a cheap enough sprinkler system and timer, I'd really like to take a week or two and do nothing but hike and fish!

I don't think I'll make it to unemployment today, still need to take my rollaway and tools to my storage unit across town and stick em there for the time being.

Sure, it may seem to suck...now, but the hassles and hardship of working under incompetent managers is over. Take a little time, map out a plan and move on...it really will turn out to be their loss and your gain.

Thanks for the kind words guys!  Blake, I will call your friend tomorrow still, probably after coming home from the unemployment office/edd, whatever.

Has anybody ever filed for unemployment online?  I was trying to look up the address for the local office and came across this  http://www.fileforunemployment.net/?gclid=CK6AgtCdwpsCFVkA4wodrB-hDQ

Thanks, I'm going to try sticking it out here in redding for now.  I think the site said it takes up to 10 days to process the info, so 2 weeks sounds about right since they're probably only counting working days.

I was a boat mechanic, but I swore if I ever got fired or quit I'd do my damndest to avoid wrenching again.  I'm in the redding, ca area.  What I'd really really like to do is start some sort of ebay business that could keep me afloat and afford flexible hours.

Oh wait, I used to work right across the street from that place too!  When I was a maintenance guy early on, I actually did clean and treat the pool and it was one of the jobs I preferred doing.  I should hit the gym, get a spray on tan (we willis folk don't tan well :ack: ) and open my own pool cleaning/bored house wife servicing business
