Just curious...how come MC does not manufacture his products in house?.....  :confused:

Seriously?  Have you any idea how expensive it is to tool up to manufacture things on a small scale?  In order to be able to sell things for even close to a decent price, you have to find a manufacturer who can and will make your parts to your specs and let them do the tooling up.

u dont need one machine for each part u produce, u can save several programs in one machine ...just different set ups...

I have always just uploaded the CNC from the computer.  Put 6 tools in the turret and go. 


Ok it a bit worse than that, but I can definitly see why Marlin would hire out to Reputable sources.   The machines I worked with cost $40K used.

ok...they have the computers...buy master cam, a used mach open some employment oportunities, totally control  QC and get rid of the midle man....

I'm sure it's been considered, but for all the parts they make I'm sure the costs far outweigh the current option.

MC is got a great customer base...most of our manufacturing is gone overseas( am not saying MC has done it), we used to be number one in exports...now we r number one in imports :shake_head:

That changed to an extent when gas prices rose so high last year, it was no longer cheaper to have lots of stuff made overseas.  I guess the only way you'll see more american jobs is if gas prices skyrocket again and stay there.  I don't want that!

my buddies dad owns a machine shop they had 6 machines that cost 60K all fancy computed out/control  + older school ones.   + it takes up alot of space
