A/C on an 83 stopped working, Help!!!
« on: Jun 10, 2009, 06:37:09 PM »
All I did is adjust the rpm dial on the a/c amplifier and then the compressor disengaged. The fan blows fine, I can jump the compressor to come on, I think the amplifier took a dump. That thing is over $300.00 dealer only!!! I put a new amplifier in (from the dealer) about a year ago. I called the dealer I bought it from and all they had to say is that it has a year warranty with the reciept. Guess what, I can't find it. I noticed that the compressor wasn't coming on at a low rpm so all I did is adjust the rpm knob and then nothing........ :shake_head:  Help..... it's hot here in AZ.

i plan on running a switch to the compressor directly but  you gotta watch and make sure it doesnt freeze up when doing that

There is a low pressure switch, I believe it is under the right kick panel.

I don't know what i'm looking for. I looked and there is a few things on the right kick panel. Isn't the low pressure switch in the a/c line like a chevy? Or is it external. I do see a 1"  by 1" black box of some sort it that it? I got a new amplifier. When I turn the a/c on the motor idles up and I can hear the relay click on but the compressor does not kick in.

I got it all figured out, mostly.  Does anyone have the factory (not haynes or chilton or all data) but the actual factory wiring diagram with component location and ground points? Thanks
