This makes you think a second time about not putting a roll cage in your rig.  I know after going through 7 roll overs I will always have a cage in my vehicle and good seats a seatbelts.

amazing how well the stock cage held up, especially since the cage terminates at the top of the windshield with no downtube support. nice post.

Rocksurfer

I just saw that on my clubs bb, I know exactly where that happened. I've run up that hill dozens of times and never had an issue. Must be a Jeep thing.

Yikes! what looked like an innocent turn on an uphill trail ... wow! Makes u think a little.
1st gen yota truck. 37x12.5x15. 5spd dual cases, chevy springs in rear, toyota rears springs in front. Long bed....the list never ends..
Dont try to shift into 6th when u've only got a 5spd! Rubberside down doesnt always mean rite side up!

Glad there ok though. cant wait to have a cage in my taco.

I think that the cage had some supports added to it.  I didn't want to post this to bash on jeep, I just wanted you guys to see how quickly something very simple can turn into a life threatening event.

sandboxtoy

I own a tj & fully caged it, I looked for supports and didn't see any with my 50" monitor. really makes me consider new seatbelts though, thats a helluva headache. I can see his pedalling faults, seems like a minor mistake turned out bad. jeeps are screwey with there short wheel base, I pull the front left tire off the ground making a u turn with my long arm 4 link. this stuff never happens with my toyota. thanks again for the post, I since bought some grab handles for the cages in both riggs.

THK Matt

that looked like something very minor... i thought oh 7minutes.... it will happen on the next hill or something.

that totally makes you think twice.
Jeep or not, that can happen to anyone.

I ALWAYS WEAR MY SEATBELT when wheeling, for that reason alone.
It is also habit to throw my seatbelt on everytime i get in a vehicle.

Very good post Gotrocks..

I don't see a bash on jeeps.

:beerchug: to you.

Goodness.... notice their arms sticking out on every down roll?  :shudder: YIKES! I'm glad they're alright. Kinda bummed about the dog though. That's the second time in a week I've heard of a dog being injured in a roll when wheeling. It makes me think twice about taking my dog in a vehicle without a doggy carseat - if they even exist.

Not quite.

You can buy them at most pet stores.  Its a typical harness for a dog, with a loop that fastens around the standard vehicle seatbelt.  It keeps them from bouncing around, and possibly out of the vehicle.   From what I've seen anyway

;) Why do you think max always gets booted in the rough stuff :gap:  I've seen him flying through the air in a spinning car, don't need to see him flying around in a rig going ass over tea kettle

It looked to me like they at least were holding onto something.  They're elbows were swinging out, but at least they weren't going to get their arms squished.  Other than the first roll, when the driver was trying to catch the rig  :smack:

How about you just simply don't roll your truck? That driver should have released the brakes and turned driver when he felt he was going over. The trick is to not tense up and to sense that crap before even getting into such a pickle.

Yeah but I have to say that in the moment there aren't many drivers who think methodically about what they "should" be doing.  Like I said in my first post after rolling 7 times now I really am starting to know how my vehicle really feels underneath me and to my controls.  Granted a few rollovers were do to stupidity/showing off, a really good driver needs hours in the seat to really know their vehicle completely.

I'm willing to bet that most of us would have possibly done the same thing in that exact scenario.  It all happens VERY fast.

TIMS89CRAWLER

I have never personally flipped a rig over but I have been very close and avoided it with driving strategy many times... when I wheel I am always very alert and prepared for a roll over always ready to avoid it if needed.... but thats just me I guess not everyone drives and thinks the same way and I am aware of that....as I said in my previous post I am glad nobody was hurt

You're right, not everyone drives alert.  It is good that they walked away from this.  I guess I look at alot of this more seriously than I did when I was a teenager.  I used to laugh and say none of that would happen to me, but being married and older I think a lot more when I'm wheeling.  There isn't just me to think about.  If I get hurt and can't pay the bills my wife would have to do all that and I would hate myself if I got hurt doing something to please my own thirst for adrenaline.  Don't get me wrong I'm not going to go sit in a padded room and cower.  I just sit back and think my line out a couple more times in my head before I try it.

Um I don't think the jeep faired to good.  From the video it looks like it broke a few things.  I can't imagine trying to get that back on the trailer.

It showed them loading it in the end of the video - looked like they made quick work of it.
