Sweet eh?

I'm super excited..I have been slacking tho cause i hate dealing with brakes. I just bent up the hard lines for the rear and will set up the front next. After that i TQ everything and fill it with fluids and put the tierod on and shes off to alignment.

My radiator was recalled co im going to be swapping that out Thursday night and Friday...Its like a never ending wrench fest with this thing. Well the good news is I might just make a shake down this weekend. Some place easy im sure but it may get dusty or something

Thanks Russell,
I am a newbie to Marlin. I have just bought a 1988 Xtra Cab. I have a 2004 UZJ100 as well.
Your truck is my inspiration an i love those rims.
I may ask some more questions down the road. As i am in Australia you have a few bits on yours that aren't on mine that i am interested in, but they will come later.
Thanks

Thanks guys!

Honestly the tires didn't impress me. I think my old MTR was better. I hear the kevlars need to brake in so maybe they will work out in the end. I got down to 5psi tryin to get a softer ride on the long and rocky trail.

Nice rig!

I gotta ask, was all the sound deadening in the cab worth it?  I'm looking at converting an older 4runner to a long distance road trip expedition style wheeler and I want it to be comfortable and quite on the highway.

Also what width did you get the diamond in?

Kevo

Russell_G

Kevo

The rattle trap was worth it. Also add a thicker vapor seal between the panels and the door. It will cut down on wind. I use thicker garden plastic and new butel tape.

The diamond is 67.25 wms-wms. Its WIDE!!!

I love it all. If i did it over those things i wouldn't change.

Russell_G

I had a 4runner roll bar in mine a while back cause everyone asked how my 4runner was..I then found a retro top that had windows like a runner to really mess with em.

Starting making all the parts work for door panels.

90's shelf/armrest parts and 01 trd switches and stuff from a molded panel.

Cut em both up

epoxy to hold it all in place...Used rigid parts to fill it.

Sanded and fit

Wrapped in 3m carbon fiber look wrap

Next to wrap the rest in pleather

Don't do the orange ish brown!  That's for old German cars like  early 80's BMW's - it just doesn't look right in a Toyota.

I picked up an 85 4runner tonight that im going to part to help a buddy and it got the ideas flowing...Oh man i cant believe im thinking about this.

so something like this? http://www.ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=184710&page=4

CRAP! ok so this looks way differetn then i was thinking. I will be doing a little measuring once i get the doner home and. Its easier to measure out of the rig then in the FJ we have. Im wondering if me being on leafs and not having an issue getting any taller will make it better. I was thinking about going 5'' leafs and bigger tires. Also thinking a small body lift to aid in the clearance. My axle is moving forward 1.5" now so i can get stock uncut fenders again. The truck is kinda going for the mild wheeling/pavement pounder thing now. I cant keep beating it up..Time to put a buggy together. The swap is more for power to tow a trailer around and some camping gear if we take it camping or something.

Yeah i looked into the same setup mainly because its sweet they make more power then most v8s but all the clearance issues and custom pan makes me shy away from it, if you do it i will be watching closely maybe it will stray me away from the 3.4 more. I was going to go rz like you but my gramps is building a camping trailer we can share on 35s and i would like to be able to tow it without a hassle. I always can buy another car for gas mileage haha

Well somethings have come up in my life and i wont have time to put in to a swap like that. Painting it and having it down for interior this year will be a reach as it is. The swap is going up for sale next week so if anyone wants it LMK
