35 12.50 on 15x8?
« on: May 19, 2009, 01:46:23 PM »
Is anyone running 35 12.50 15 s on a 15x8? The site i looked at suggested a 8.5-10 inch wide rim for the 12.50. will it fit on an 8 inch with no problems or would a 15x10 be better?

yes, it will fit on an 8"

this is actually what most people run them on.... i wouldnt run a 12.5" anything on a 10" wide wheel, unless you like to blow beads aired down, or like your truck to look like a hawaii sand truck

8" wheel with a 12.5" tire is the setup i would run

Thanks. yea my truck came with some rediculous 16x12 with 33 12.50's. they stuck 7 inches outside the fender so i had to get bushwacker 3.5inch flares to pass inspection. once the tires go bald i think im gonna get some 15x8 cragar soft 8's and sell the flares and trim the fender and maybe ball joint spacer to clear 35's

i ran 15x10 rims for a long time with 35x12.5 tires. i never aired down passed 20psi, but you dont need to cause most if not all your tread is already on the ground.

Thats a pic of some 35x12.50 MTRs on 15x10 rims... never blown a bead... in fact on Rubicon I pinched the bead like 6 times, letting air out each time but never actually blew a bead

Doesnt look like a Hawaii sand truck to me  :dunno:

its all a preference. i have friends that WILL NOT run anything other than 15x8 and then i have friends that like the 15x10. you just gotta find what works for your usage.

Yeah they rock ridiculously wide rims. 15x8s and 15x10s are pretty "standard" for wheeling

go 10s, that way if you ever decide to run somthing wider (tire) then you dont have to buy rims again

i rum 15x8 wheels on 35 12.50s and never a problem. i have aired down to 8 psi and been fine....
narrower tires have less surface area thus increasing the weight per square inch... wider tires have more surface area which is a lower weight per square inch. This is cool in the sand and if you want to hydoplane alot.

What he said.

I don't care about fender rubbing, that's what the my die-grinder is for.  I wanna know about rubbing frame and suspension (leaf springs).

33x12.5 on 15x10. Run the Rubicon at 12psi. Only thing I didn't like was how easy it was to hurt my rim's lip. Did snow at 10psi and never had a problem.

I have been told to use 10in if you run on the street a lot. An 8in will round your tires enough to cause uneven wearing.  :dunno:

Back spacing really depends on if your planning to run wheel spacers.

I am running 35-12.5-15 on 10" rims and the rim lip is pretty scratched up. I had some 8" rims felt they were a little to narrow but ok. Also had some 9" rims on my old 85 pickup they seemed perfect wish I still had those. I dont think they make them anymore.

My question on backspacing, I guess is, do you ever have to worry about your tire diameter being large enough to scrub inner fender or leaf spring?
