southern CO wheeling trip

I am planning a trip to run a couple trails and possiply play in a rock quarry play ground ( yes its all legal I checked first) I already have a few friends/ family going and I thought Id invite my fellow yotatech memebers in CO to join us it will be 2 days posibly camping involved. any type of vehicle is welcome as long as it is 4WD (jeep/toyota) (IFS/SA)

when: May 15th & 16th
where: Alamosa CO

Alamosa will be the meet up and we will head out to the dunes to run medano and the then the the quarry to play around (race/crawl/mud)

Doesn't Medano go into the Dunes on the north side/no park fees? Might be interested; need to check schedules and all that crap.

Sounds like a good time!  I've heard about that rock quarry before and seen some pics of others on it a couple of years ago.  I'd like to check it out but I don't think I can make it.  Spring is tough for me to get out with my daughter playing soccer.

Medano Pass runs from Hwy 69, a couple miles north of Garnder to the backside of the Sand Dunes.  You are correct, you don't have to pay park fees if you travel from the Hwy 69 to Dunes direction and out of the park towards Alamosa.  But if you plan on returning the same way you when in, you will have to pay to get back into the park.  It's a minimal cost ($3/person I think) but plan on paying if you return that direction.
