spent till about 2 this morning working on my d300 swap and it was crazy trying to design flip shifters with respect to the tranny front drive shaft , skid plate and floor!   after 3 prototypes of completly differant designs I finally came up with one that would satisfy all my needs, got it together and it was working gread, shifting like it should, then went to put it in and it just hits the tranny flare when shifting into rear low, so back out it came,  I got to move that shifter a little but it shouldnt take more than an hour to move that shifter in a little and everything can go back together,  I even picked up some cables and a pully and will be able to opperate my ebrake/cut brake with the standard ebrake lever..  so hopefull my jeep taking road trips acrooss the lot to hit other trucks will be a thing of the past!

well it was a big mess but I got the new t-case in and all is working well...  It was a bit nerve wrecking kinda like putting in a new motor after all that work taking it out for a test drive.  So I ended up in 2low rear and backed out of the garage shifted it into 2hi and went to leave and the motor about died with my buddies yelling stop stop stop... fuel was shooting everywhere. the fuel return line popped off...  crazy so got that back on and headed around the block and smoke started coming through the floor boards ..  hurried back to the shop and it was the ebrake disc rubbing on the rubber undercoating on the jeep causing smoke, so a hammer and punch took care of that and all is well..  I am going to shorten the front shifter a little,  I used the little hand ratchets as shifter knobs so I could spin them when I drive but all the ratcheting stuff melted during welding and so now they just spin so I think I am going to make something a little more erganomic for the hands.  But it shifts great.  I still have to shorten the front d-shaft but then she will be ready...  I drove it down the highway and no vibes but when I got home I had some leaking fluid so I went searching and realized I needed to put the tcase breather hose back on so the oil being flung by the gears wouldnt kick out...  anyways without further adue here she is running good again.  and I was able to use some pullys and reuse the stock e brake to opperate my new cutting/ebrake!

and yes I know the shifters arnt paralell right now, its cause the rear axle is in high (all the way back) and the front axle is shifted in neutral (middle position)

well I got up early this morning before school and mounted up the rear bumper and I couldnt be happer...  My hands are to big to get the nuts on the bolts behind the fuel tank but the bumper will be held on by 8 .5in g8 bolts, has two 18k rated d rings and a reciever to pull my camping trailer...  I have the sliders painted up already and will be mounting them tomorrow after class and will have pics up over the weekend.  I also finally blacked out the rear wheel wells and i think it looks way better!  first time its had a rear bumper on it since I bought it!  LOL

yep the bs is all over.... i  cant wait to get going on it again!  its going to be real sweet!  I am going to replace the floor with an alum one, then build a real tight roll cage to the body then cut the body off behind the front cowl and build lexan sides for it, so it will look like a legit jeep for driving around town and non hard core wheeling activities then if I got to some crazy trail, ie the rubicon moab ect I can zip off my sides and leave them behind and just have a full tube buggy!   It will only sit around 3in higher than my jeep I drive now but with 42s so it will be real stable and it will be easy to get in and out of...

Well other than a few minor things like flush mounted tail lights and move the license plate, and paint the rest of the jeep black its pretty much done...   Sure there will be future upgrades like some nice links and some coilovers someday here is pretty much how it will look for quite some time!

Well now that your filled in old yeller ill clue everyone else in.  3 weeks ago the driveshaft flange cracked and broke off at the t-case when the shaft hit the ground it set off the air bags and sent the d-shaft through the floor inbetween the front seats... So the insurance company totalled it out and i bought it back, tore out the seats and carpet and lined the floor with hurculiner and got some seats for it. as well as an auto, yes I converted it from a manual to an auto, put a 4:1 lowmax kit in the t-case.  and got an awesome deal on a set of 37x1250x15 pitbull rocker radials.  new pics will be up after the weekend when I get it all together and out of the garage...  u yoter folks might recognize the tranny I used, its an aw4 and as i understand it, it was used in yoters and cherokees.
