The Jackstand! new meats..

Well my day got cut short my dewalt grinder of 11 years went up in smoke on me today..  I have a big 7.5in grinder i just need to get some flap discs for it but heres some pics of where we got today... 


the wifey help out quite a bit today... she came out and made templates for the skins...













weather may be crappy tomorrow so I too them off and put them in the garage and will finish weld them clean them up and weather permitting shoot them with paint....

not sure just yet yeller.. we were going to plate them and then put blinkers in there but they looked way better open so I think were going to leave them open and find another place for the blinkers....

Yamaha Raptor 660-700 Headlights would fit perfect in those holes! then run amber H3 Bulbs and make them blinkers. :p

these little guys? any idea on the dimentions?  i dont have much room in those little holes..  their a cool headlight..

they aren't that big..... 3x8in for that whole assembly is my guess.

well today was a good day of work and running around got the drivers fender wrapped up and painted  and got the other fender all welded up just need to clean it up and paint it but humidity is real high and its taking over an hour a coat to dry....  freakin rediculous...  and I ran out of welding gas.. but heres my pics from the day...

thanks guys im real happy with how they look...  I really wanted something differant front what others have been building...  the weather sucks  today but im going to try and get the other fender painted up and get the two rear fenders skinned up then its time tofigure out my steering dilema.... and get this thing back on the road...

well got a little done today not a whole lot.. got the rear flares welded up and the mounting feet welded on...  mocked them up and took the jack off the rear end to see how it looks at ride height, I may mount them a little higher on the tub but i  got to clear it with the wife...  anyways heres them without the skins and pending approval the skins will go on tomorrow..

where did you weld all teh supports for teh rear fenders to?

the supports are only welded to the fender, and each one is welded to a 6in plate.. the front plate mount over the jxtn of the body and the floor, the upper two and front middle one along the jxtn of the wheel well and the body and the back one I am going to weld a piece of tubing to the frame and run it up to reinforce the body back there...  I though about crusher corners but they pack on so much weight I thought if I us the stongest places of the body I might have enough strength.. and if it doesnt work I bend the body a little and I throw some crusher corners on to cover it up...  LOL    But hopefully my theory holds  with the strong points of the body...

I got the front fender thrown on and started skinning the rears.. heres a pic of the finnished front...  I still have to put the trim on the hood which will make the "hood gap" even...

lol i know rebel im gettin anxious wife is workin on the skins..  i plan to have both rears mounted and finnished tomorrow an hopefully the front pass side...  i got rainned out today but  did get the body trimmed...  still scares to cut good body..

the drivers side was my practice side if you couldnt tell lol...

Well I got to feeling human again and got my fenders cleaned up painted and put on....  heres the proof.... 











I still am going to do one final sanding and paint, and am going to paint the rear under the fenders back there...
