The Jackstand! new meats..

heres my current build...  Its called the jackstand cause everytime I get one thing done I got it in the air for something new...

I dont have any pics of when I first bought it but heres a pic after the first weekend I had it.  I picked it up last summer as a bone stock 97 wrangler with some allum tube crap on it!  Since Im not a big fan of hte shiny it didnt take long to get rid of it.  Heres a few pics of the progression...

3.5in skyjacker lift and some 2in wheel spacers to go with the 35 truxis mt...


took it wheelin and loved it worked awesome, but I was worried about the stock axles so I picked up a dana 44 and ford 9 already geared with a full detroit up front and a spool in the rear for a good deal and started building brackets with metal in the shop... and heres where it went.






Threw on some beadlocks


got rid of all the shiny and almost paid for this whole upgrade

got rid of the slip yoke


got the front axle in


and got it all put back together


got the hydro assist to make the front locker a little easier to deal


Ditched the spool upgraded the rear to alloys and an aussie (which I love btw)

and when wheeling again everything that was a challange the first run out wasnt much the second run out...




found a need to put some draind in the bead lock rim



Next comin up here over my next break, I picked up a stock suspension and am will be going at something like this but my own version


I got some plate for a belly up and am working on the tube fenders and cuttin my hood down to a highline.  and will have almost the same clearance I do now but sitting 3.5-4in closer to the ground....

I had it in the rock pile that same weekend but it was toward the end of the day and we were getting out of the trails and my buddy had a busted cylinoid in his ranger so we didnt have time to stop and take pics!  it was great, the 4.56 gears are a huge step up from the 3.73s I had.

The jeep in my avatar is going to under go a redo and be reborn as a light weight tube rig, alot of things got completly jacked when it was being "worked on " and so when i graduate in the spring I  am going to take a few weeks and build a tube frame and it will be light weight with a real low cog runnin on 42s....  so this time next spring i  will be postin up willynilly part two!

took about an hour but I got both front fenders and fender flares off....  heres the first pics of the transformation...





Tube fenders will go on this weekend....  I will be markin off the hood for cutting tomorrow and cutting it on wednesday...  gotta pace myself right...

Well I wont b buy from the ebay guy I posted up that I ordered tube fenders from - for guys a prick... I called him to ask when the fenders would be sent out he told me monday... wednesday i asked for a tracking number he said he was finnishing them and they would go out the next day, sent him an email friday trying to touch base for the weekend didnt hear anything back so last night i told him if I continued to get no responce that I would have to ask for my money back..... then finally he replied back and said to ask for it back that it wasnt worth this.... All my emails were polite and each one was days after I was told it would be shipped.... What a prick.... dont tell do what you said you would do, if you make an agreement live up to it!

why cant people keep there word! 

The moron actually called my phone with a caller ID block and threatened me that he knew my address and things are what they are.... Im pretty pissed off and those of you that know me know thats hard to do!

I am going to wait till I start building the fenders to clean up the cut so I can knock down any low spots !! 


I also got a bender die today in the mail and an air/hydro jack and I will be starting friday building my tubing bender..

Well started on the bender today  went pretty well.. im alot further then it looks... most of the work went into making the main frame work square and the roll and die holes lined up and properely spaced...  I just have to finnish weld it togethere with supports and make a push rod for it....   and it will be ready for a test run....

got out in the garage tonight and finnished up the bender...  I just need to get some black paint cause you all know white will just show all the dirt!








the pipe and washers out the upper moun is to limit the stress on the pin that holds the roller in there but I cant wait to try it out this weekend...  I had to steal a 36 in piece of the new steel i got for the fenders for the other brace and it was a dream to weld on good quality steel!

got it from this guy.. they sell the whole bender but I didnt like the idea of having to manually pump for 2 min per bend and couldnt get them to sell one without the bottle jack plus they said the air/hydro jacks wont fit their frame so I bought the jack and die and have like 290 into it now... including tax and shipping and what not...

MODEL 2.0!  upgraded with  a pivot on the base of the jack and the die... takes just about 1 min at 100 psi and 50 seconds at 120 psi for a 90 degree bend...  It would be faster but I only have a 28 gallon air tank...  Works at about 50psi also but takes almost 2 minutes for a 90 degree bend... it doesnt creek moan or anything else!  I am completely happy with it!  Got my first rear flare bent and the hardes part was trying to determine where to start the bends....

Well I had a bit of steam to blow off after testing this morning so I started removing the lift!  Got the rear lift removed and stock suspension back on...  I think it will be easier to get in and out of LOL... It sits lower than it will when its done since being parked on a hill and sitting 4in higher still but the stance will definatly be lower!  LOL




I will be doing the front end this weekend and try getting the tube fenders mocked up... But figured I would throw this up since its pretty funny looking...

Well as it turns out when you design for a stock suspension on a larger axle its a huge pita to get your hydro ram paralell to the ground...  I spent yesterday I clearanced the diff cover hoping to move the ram from ontop the drag link to paralell and it turns out theirs still not enough room so I cut out the panhard bar mount and rebuilt it and moved the ram to point the other dirrection and mounts off the diff cover. ...  anways I havent wrapped that up, but I thought I would take a break from layin in the driveway and make some fender headway... so this is what I have done..  All I have left is to add a few support bars and finnish welding it up then skin it.. Ok that sounds like alot but welding is fairely quick work and the wifey will make templatesfor skinning them...   alright enogh talk heres some pics...









This is the clearance I have with a stock suspension 2in from full compression...  I think ill have plenty of clearance.
