Clutch shudder in 3rz swap?
« on: Feb 17, 2009, 08:00:25 AM »
I noticed that my truck shudders a bit when i am realeasing the clutch in 1st. What should i check first? Here are the specs of my truck.

1987 pickup
2002 Tacoma 3rz
Factory Toyota flywheel for 2002 Tacoma with 3rz and manual.( Used lilbuddys Vin since my motor was from a auto)
Marlin 3rz clutch kit
Factory Toyota 3rz clutch fork and slave cylinder
Marlin r151f trans with rz conversion bellhousing
Marlin clutch master cylinder

I torqued to the specs of my repair manual
Torqued the pressure plate to 20 ft lbs

Any idea's? I really don't want to pull the trans and t-case's.

Its a brand new flywheel from Toyota. I didn't think i would need to have it resurfaced being brand new.

Next question is did you clean it and  the pressure plate, did you get grease on the disc surface.

I cleaned both with brake cleaner. AS far as i know there isnt any grease on the pressure plate unless it got some on there as i was sliding the motor in but i dont think so.

Should be no reason for it to chatter.

Pedal pressure is okay. Its better than when i had the 22rte in. But i would like a firmer pedal. I have bled the think like 3 separate times. I cracked the bleeder and gravity bled the slave cylinder, then i did the usual pump the clutch hold it to the floor and crack the bleeder, then i let it sit for a day and did the same again. Still leaves a little to be desired. Slave cylinder is New factory Toyota. Clutch master cylinder is from Marlin.

You might wanna get a motive brake bleeder system and bleed it like that. I just got one, and supposedly they're the cats ass when it comes to bleeding a hydraulic system.

URD has them the cheapest, I paid like $45 shipped to my house. Everyone else has them for like $60 or $70.

Power bled the clutch and it didnt do a thing. After some break in time it went partially away. I just give it more gas now and i cant feel it.

I am having this same issue with my swap. I know this thread is old as hell but I'm wondering if anyone has any advice as to how to rectify this. I believe the issue lies in the slave cylinder/fork combo. I am running the T-100 bell housing on a W56 with the slave cylinder from the T-100. I believe that the slave cylinder doesn't have a long enough throw and is causing the issue. Would love to hear from anyone who has rectified this issue.
