No to hate
« on: Sep 20, 2004, 12:41:13 AM »
With all of the Hate in the air, YOTAon40s suggested an anti-hate thread and I think its a cool idea.

So lets hear some stories of when some jerk forced you to move off the side of the trail so he could get by and then you found him 2 miles later broke down, but jumped out to lend a helping hand-

And No, Marlin you are not allowed to post here because we dont have time to read all your stories :hahaha:

I remember when I was much younger we were in the snow and this dumb ass decided that he wasnt going to wait for our club any more and tried to pass Marlin's truck to the side of the road which was off cambered and he sunk it hard near a tree. :talkingn: He was so mad and was cussing :censored: at Marlin's truck for the trouble  :screwy: So Marlin strapped his winch to this guy, but he was sliding his truck down towards the stuck one, so Marlin put it in reverese and in a last effort broke a birfield while backing up with the winch going. This was back in the days of the Landcruiser (when Landcruisers were 10:1 to minitrucks) and I think it took 2 FJs strapped together to pull this guy back on the road. :o Then the guy felt really bad for Marlin and offered us some drinks, err soft drinks  :eyebrow:

He was rude but hopefully Marlins show of kindness made an impact on him, who knows :dunno:

thanx for posting up this thread bigmike.I think it does not matter what us wheelers drive,(wether its a yota, jeep, ford, chevy or even a hunk of junk.) we should all just stick together and make a difference in the 4x world, rather than hate on someone or their rig.maybe sometimes people are envious of others,I to sometimes feel envious of others, but that just makes me think "damn, I got some work to do to make my toy better".Any way, let's stop the hate, and increase the 4wheeling.besides, we are all into the same sport and love it!

:eye:  I just happened to see a guest viewing this thread in the user activity, so i checked it out.  And I don't quite think this thread turned out the way BigMike had intended?  So let's give it another shot!

With as crazy as this world is today, it's nice to hear stories about GOOD things.  I don't think it has to be trail-related really.  Here are a few little things I can think of off hand:

1.  One time I was in a convenience store that was right beside a low-income housing development.  This barefoot little girl was ahead of me trying to buy herself some ice cream with a little fistful of change that wasn't even half of what she needed.  She looked so sad!!  So I told her to keep her change, and I bought her ice cream for her!  Although...she didn't quite seem to know what to do, so she grabbed her ice cream and took off running.  LOL

2.  One time I was standing in line at my hometown Uni-Mart and this polite little college girl was in front of me trying to pay for gas for her trip home for spring break, and the cashier wouldn't take the fancy card that her parents gave her for spending money.  So I paid for her gas, and she was ECSTATIC and insisted I give her my mailing address.  A couple of weeks later, I got the NICEST thank you card from that girl, along with a check from her parents for WELL over the cost of her gas!

3.  OK since those two were money-related and I didn't intend for that.....this past July 4th, Brian and I were in Sheetz and there was an Army lady in her camo fatigues waiting in line, so we shook her hand and thanked her.
RIP Kyle, we love and miss you man.  :smooch:
thanks for the smooch I miss you too !  :yesnod:

Oh and I ALWAYS hold the door for others coming in or out of stores, and I always hold the elevator here at work when someone is coming.
So many people, when you are just steps away, will just close the doors without any regard. And these elevators are the WORST, I don't know why but they take FOREVER and there is usually one or more down at a time.

:werd:

C'mon people, its ok to take another minute out of your day to hold the door open for the little old lady that is using a walker, and can hardly stand with it, let alone without it.

We were at the store the other day, and saw a stupid punk go through the door, look behind him, and then let the door close right in this old ladie's face.  So now she's standing there, holding on to her walker and bag of groceries in one hand, and trying to push the door open with the other.  Needless, to say, it wasn't working so well.

My sr. FF and I went and opened the door, and walked with her to the car, carrying her bag of groceries, while my capt. caught up to the punk and had a nice chat with him about manners :hahaha:

Agreed, I always try and hold the door open for somebody coming through.  I did it when I got to work the other day for a lady who was still about 10 feet from the door, so it was totally obvious I was doing it for her, yet she walked through with her nose up in the air like I was her personal servant.  Gotta love those people  :haha:  It's ok though, enough others are appreciative when I hold doors so it evens out!

It seems that it's always the blue hairs that act like it was your job to hold the door for them, it's odd because they were raised when they taught manners in school. I usually just say "No thanks needed, it was my pleasure" and walk off.

Ah, those people are fun too!!  :gap:  I guess it takes all kinds to make the world go round :dunno:   Pisses me off when people do that.  I don't hold doors to boost my ego, or to get thanks, but to walk by and pretend I don't even exist?  Royally pisses me off.  Don't treat me as if I'm not fit to share the same air with you.  I don't care if I'm holding the door or not, we're all people here.

I had a lady at the store on time drop something as she was unloading her cart, and I picked it up for her.  She ripped it out of my hand, said "give me that, thats mine!"  and threw it on the belt.  The grandmotherly looking woman at the register glared at her, and said "Now you apologize right now to that young man!  All he was doign was helping, and you treated him very poorly!"  The lady stared at her, and the clerk said "I'm not ringing your stuff through until you apologize to him."    The lady gave me one of those under the breath, "sorry"  that you can barely hear, and the clerk made her say it again!

   good job abnormaltoy!

I remember one time Brian and I were at the saw shop he likes to go to, out in the middle of nowhere.  And this old couple came in asking for directions to some funeral home in a nearby town.  You could just tell they were WAY confused by the directions people were giving them, so Brian finished paying for his stuff and we told the old guy to just follow us, and we took him right to the place.  Wasn't exactly on the agenda, but that old couple acted like we just saved their lives.

Monday evening i had picked sis up from work andwas on our way home,  we saw this guy walking but  i didnt  stop because  i dont do that for people when i have mom or sis with me,   but just as i was going past i realized he was carrying a gas jug,  so i turned around  and went back, he was very thankful we came back,  he said he was really tired from walking because he had walked to town from where his truck was.   I told him no problem and asked him as we started toward my house  where he was at, he said he was off Hern RD, :yikes:
which is about 4 miles PAST  my turnoff,   i told him, DANG  no wonder your so tired,
he had been dropping his kids off to there mother
as we approached our turnoff we were talking about  school and stuff( weird i know)  sis said we live  down that way  and he asked for me to stop,  that it was too far out of our way,   well i refused  and said sorry  we;re kidnapping you for another  4 miles,

when he got out  he  thanked us  and  said he hoped he could repay the help,  i told him  to  just pay it forward

I think it would be interesting to know what "Hate was in the air" at the time you posted...was it something personal, national or what?
