can you heat treat connecting rods for a motor?
Do you know exactly what they are made of ?  I am no expert, so you probably don't want me messing with motor internals. :hammer:

Steering arms installed. Went together like a dream.  I had to remove the hydro assist, because angles have changed.  I am gonna redo how its mounted.  No pics yet, I still need to make another tie-rod.

Drove it without hydro-assist, wow its a big difference after being used to assist for years.  I want it back.  I have to modify the ram mounts, the ports, and where its located.  Easy job but more time.

I was surfing the web, found this video of Steel Dragon 2000.  Brings back memories. I had a hand in the building and construction of every part of this massive beast.  We built it in La Selva Beach, CA (Santa Cruz) and constructed it in Japan.

Another, what a nightmare working with Disney Engineers.  They designed the ride around the ring gear, without thinking, what if it failed.  We changed it and added shear pins to the gear housing, so lockup would shear pins instead of gearing.  This ride had so much Stainless, for such a middle of the road ride.  10,000 1/8 drill bits and 250,000 rivets later, you get a center piece for Cali Adventure.

There has been a lot of talk about replacement Pads for AP transfer case brakes.  I originally built my brake around AP's disk, cause I can't make the disk.  I built the caliper out of steel and used pads from golf course equipment (probably a Cushman or Jacobson).  I used them cause they looked exactly what was used on AP's full Kit.  When I got the disk from AP it matched the pads perfectly.  I have not worked in the golf industry in many years, but we use the same equipment.

After all this talk I gotta do some research, maybe we can get em cheaper.  When vacation ends I'll look into it, if someone can PM pics of AP's pads, with a ruler next to them (or better yet, a center to center pin measurement).  I bet they are the same, off the shelf.  After all, when I bought my disk, AP said it was so "you can fab your own caliper".

I have since rebuilt the caliper, 6061

Got it, I'll measure mine this morning.  The caliper looks the same.  If it turns out they are, I'll get you a set of pads.  If nothing else we have the material and a brake riveter at work.

Thanks  :beerchug:

Edit:  The pin to pin measurements are the same 6".

Thanks, although I did stop that project, and I got to make some changes.   :_order:

Finally got the runner out of its parking spot.  Did some suspension tests.

Need to add bumpstop, till I get my flat steering arm.  New fuel pump on the way, so its time to wheel.

It went very nice, a few mods and we'll be out there.  The second week of april, maybe Sunday the 10th, or Fri the 16th.  My facebook has pics.  You should go, some good SC wheelers.

Wermz84

Glad to hear it.  Still need to get mine back together.  We'll have to find each other on FB.

Just read through the whole build, very impressive. Wish I had the skills/tools to make custom stuff like that.
