So, I put a W56 out of a 86 pickup into my 82LB pickup but now i'm having driveshaft issues. I took my 82 shaft to get it shortened and found out that since the ends are tapered they can only shorten it by about an inch. I was told I need a solid shaft but that is another $100-$150 and then the shortening is another $100. Not exactly the cheapest route.
What has everyone else been doing? is there a shaft out of another year that would work?
My other option is to have then cut the 3-4" off one end, put a larger yoke on, and use a u-joint conversion. Flange to flange is 54 1/4" on the truck and old shaft is like 57 to 58" at its shortest.
