Driveshaft help
« on: Jan 15, 2005, 10:53:40 PM »
A friend of mine has a 71 I believe fj40 his first LC, and he says that his front driveshaft always spins with hubs unlocked and not in 4x4. Is this how its supposed to be? Will it hurt it? :headscratch:
Everyone starts off in life crawling but lots of us grow up and still are crawling around everywhere

i dont know much about that year.... but if it has a similar t-case as pickups do, the front driveline will only spin when you put your t-case into 4 high or 4 low. if he is in H2..... i dont know what to tell you... hub problem maybe?

Pull the hubs and make sure one of them is not dry or rusted up. Is it moving as fast as the rear, or just moving? Some times you'll get some movement even though things aren't engaged, especially if it's real cold and the gear oil is thick/stiff.
