Yeah, I'm not going to spend 8+ hours of driving to take them some fuked up parts. They supposedly replaced all the parts on the adapter the first time!

I got the shipping slip yesterday, and shipped it back this morning. They should get it tomorrow. It shouldn't take very long to replace everything AGAIN...

I got the adapter back today from MC. Everything looks good.  It came back to me dis-assembled, which is fine. I thought is a way to not warranty it again, by saying they didnt assemble it. Hopefully it doesn't have to be anytime soon! :crossed:

I had callled MC yesterday, to ask them to clean the parts before they put them together. I think part of the problem is the :pokinit: that is all over the parts from the manufacture. Its kind of waxy syrup that all the parts were covered in. All the parts were pretty clean, but 1 of the little oil ports was mostly plugged up with the stuff. I got it all put together for the most part today. All I have left to do is put the shifters in and add gear oil.

I hope the test drive goes a WHOLE lot better than last time! :driving:

well I would have loved for MC to hear the good news first but they closed at 4 and I didn't test drive it until 445....

The same EXACT thing happened again! except I only made it about a half mile this time! I drove about .5 miles and I only got up to 30 MPH in the 45 mph zone.  It didnt have any problems going together (again.) It rolls in Neutral right now but is totally bound up in gear, same as last time.

As far as Im concerned it isn't an oiling problems. I should  have been able to drive that far at those speeds with NO oil in the cases! Who knows when I will work on it again, I am leaving it where it sits tonight. I dont feel like dealing with it in and pouring rain. :maddest:

id say most companies make better products and absolutely 100% have better customer service than marlin crawler now. they have been removed from my list of people im willing to buy from given how crappy their service is and nowadays they're product is so hit and miss and when it misses so often its way worse than any other company so its just not worth it. overpriced stuff with no customer service doesnt sell in my book. take your business to someone that can take care of you. its your money.

it is the MC09 model. The time it was warrantied they milled the adapter housing for their new "HD" coupler bearing and replaced all the parts. the second time the needle cage bearing between the coupler and low range gear went out...

this time I dont know yet... I have an idea what could cause it but Im not going to speculate before taking it apart and talking to MC.

As far as how i've been dealt with thus far...

they warrantied and upgraded parts the 1st time. But it took a couple days shy of 5 weeks!
after the cost of gear oil and Right Stuff it went out 5 miles later.
they payed for it to be shipped back and replaced all the parts again. With same day turn around this time.
more gear oil and Right Stuff and more labor... here we are again.

I am so floppin' tired of taking transfer cases in and out of the truck!! Its not like its a easy job to repair and test it! One thing I do know is this adapter WILL NOT GO BACK IN. They can replace it with a whole new unit or give me my money back or call Inchworm and order an adapter for me... :maddest:

Inchworm is on backorder currently. I checked...  :D

I don't think there would be any problem running their adapter, I still will run one. My problems with it locking up started after they milled and "upgraded" parts...

this situation just sucks. things like this discourage customers. now im almost wishing i just installed 4.7's.

I talked to MC this morning and told them what happened.   The guy I have been dealing with was supposed to talk to his techs and call me back. Still waiting for a call back, I guess I may have to them again...

Hopefully this gets taken care of soon, I don't get to wheel much on the summer and now I'm not snow wheelin at all!

I would keep calling them. This is complete BS. Hopefully they will really step up and take good care of you.

lilbuddy

Call again. I doubt that they talked to the tech guy. They should have talked right after he got off the phone. 3 times is ridiculous and they should put your issue at top priority but it looks like they aren't. It's pretty unfortunate your truck has been down a month and a half and only driven it 4 miles just cause of shotty service

88Rokyoat

Just talked to them and they are sending another shipping slip out to send them the adapter and crawl box this time. They think the coupler might be alittle bit too long (like 1/8th in.)  I'm not sure I'm buying that coupler is too long. I don't understand how it could be too long and everything still go together with no issues...
Has anyone heard of this happening and being an issue before? I have not heard of this before.

Sounds like your getting a complete rebuild , I hope it's good this time !!

They said nothing about complete rebuild. And honestly I could give a :pokinit: about a complete rebuild! I just want my truck to work good and be dependable! It has be out of service longer dealing with this issue than it was when I did the axle swap! WTF!?
