front spring help
« on: Jan 23, 2009, 05:01:43 PM »
ok i bought a project 1980 toy almost a year ago good motor trans duel cases high steer a bunch of good stuff.the body was wasted.scraped the body an droped a 87 nissan hard body to the frame every things works great but the front springs scare me.what the old owner did in the front to get lift was welded home made shackle hangers to the bottom of the frame below the factory shackle frame tubes and used a 6'' shackle.i think they used the stock front springs with some other springs as they mesure about 45'' eye to eye and about 22'' front to center pin and about the same from the pin to the rear.i have 60'' springs and 3'' blocks in the rear.so what im trying to do is get lifted springs in the front and put back in the factory location with the 6'' shackles.im just not shure how to figure out how much of a lifted spring i need.any help or ideas would be great. thanks

thats what i used to have in the rear also. most people around here run 4" springs with about
5-5.5" shackles for up to 40" tires. with the nissan body though it might be different. you should be fine with 4" springs and 36s. should help your pinion angle out to
