UPDATE:  The engine is still at the machine shop ( head has at least 2 cracks and the crank shaft is toast) Soooo I've been working on the interior     Ranger seats, rubber floor mat and made a new dash insert out of tread plate  ( the orginal dash was trashed, only the heater controls were there) I think the dash and rest of the interior came out pretty good. seats,, dash,,

i agree. i hardly ever remember to look down at them, if i ever have a charging problem or oil pressure problem i probablly wont realize it till its too late.  :slap: . . unless im real off camber then ill check the oil pressure pretty constantly.

finally bit the bullet and ordered the parts for the engine
I had to order a crankshaft (the 2 I had were bad)  the parts stores wanted $225. plus core ($150.00) for a reman crank
I ordred a "NEW" crank from japan engines.com $110.00 plus shipping
I also ordered the pistons, connecting rods (new) and gasket set
Now I'm waiting for the "big brown truck"    then the machine shop to finish up, so I can get started. :crossed:

the big brown truck dropped my engine parts off Monday
I couldn't wait to get home and open my box of goodies
imagine my dissapointment when I open the box and saw the WRONG parts.
Mike @ Japan Engines was very helpful and is shipping the right parts ASAP

the block & head will be ready Friday, after the engine is finished and the truck is driveable, I'm going to regear it with 5.29's, & Aussies. For tires I plan on running Q-78 Swampers or Buckshots.

I did some more stuff to the truck while I was waiting the machine shop

1st I added some BLING  lol :cheese:

Then I added to the front bumper, the tag folds up, there's a 2 inch receiver for the winch mount or hook

and here's a picture of the engine parts, the pistons are at the machine shop, I pick the block & head up Friday

www.metropartsmarket.com

I tried to copy the link     but couldn't get it to work.
I hope you have your old carpet or floor mat to use as a pattern.

I didn't and once you cut it you can't  return it.
I had to cut almost a foot off the back 6 inches off of the front, and trim the sides.
But it's worth it.

I had a 85 that I covered the floor with bed liner. I still had a lot of road noise and the floor was always hot. Hopefully the mat and insulation will take care of that problem and be easy to clean up.

Got the engine back from the machine shop, started cleaning and painting, I will try to get some pics. up soon.
I'm also porting and polishing the head.

Its been a BUSY month, I have only been out to the shop a few times. I sold the tires off the truck last week. I also ordered the camshaft from ENGNBLDR.com, 261C and new head bolts. Last night I installed the crankshaft in the block.

I will try to get some pics. tonight

my PURTY engine  fired up and runs GREAT :clap2: :cheese: :willynilly:

on the way to the muffler shop

I will try to take a few more pics tues. or wed.
I had to repaint the truck  I used krylon the first time... it was 5 different shades of kahki. I WAS PISSED. I repainted it last weekend with rustoleum kahki, its a little lighter, but I think it came out ALOT better now. the rustoleum layed down real nice with zero runs.

Thanks for the support.  I'm going to start on the suspension this weekend ( Tues. Weds. are my weekend) hopefully I can order the springs next week. Then I'm going to order the gears and tires. I would like to have it on the road by Christmas ( or sooner ) but I don't think it will be.
