How does your Runner ride with the lift, and 40's? We picked up a 2000 Runner yesterday for my girlfriend, and I'm already loving it more than my Tacoma. It only has 86,000 miles which is 20,000 miles less than my 2003 Taco.

Awesome fab work as always brah.
it rides really nice now that i have some weight in the back from that spare tire.  It was kinda rough and bouncy in the rear but its pretty cumfy now.  The 40's are fine on the road, its just hard to find a place that can balance tires that big.

use air bbs to balance your tires
like airsoft bb's?  just dump a bunch in there when it gets mounted, or is there a trick to it?

I havnt done it but I have looked into it. Search my friend, there are threads devoted to it. The trick to doing it is to pull the valve core and pour them in that way.

Speaking of searching, I went as far back as page 34 looking for your frame height. I found a post where you said it was at 26", however I am pretty sure you have adjusted your springs since then. So what is your frame height sitting at now? Any idea on how much up travel you have?

thanks, I will have to look around a bit and see what I can find.   well I dont think I have adjusted the springs since then but I have taken the 2" body lift off which made a huge difference in lowering the COG.  Currently with the tires aired up to 25lbs I am at 25.75" to the frame, 23.25" to the skid plate and 13.75" under the diffs.  It feels very comfortable on the trail and I have had the stock tip-o-meter up to almost 45 degrees without going over.  I feel alot more safe and in control of this rig compared to my last one. For up travel (at ride height) I am sitting 2" from the bumps in the front and 3" from the bumps in the rear.  But that is obviously not an accurate measurement of how far the tire will actually travel up, because the tire is farther out on the arc of the axle when flexing. Most people look at my setup and think my suspension must not move much, but it works excellent.  The springs sit flat which allows me to be low to the ground with 40" tires, and I am loving that setup. I had to setup the front bumps where they are because without them the steering links would rub really hard on the top of the front leaves.  The rear bumps are setup to stop the tire about a quarter inch from rubbing the inner fender.  Its been working great so far and I think I have only been lightly stuck twice ever since I have been wheelin it.

How many miles do you and your friends get out of those MTR's? I'm so ready to blow money on these. Where would be the cheapest place to get some 37 12.50 R15? Desert Rat has them for $259.99 a tire, good/bad? Will try to have Discount Tire match price them, but might not work since they're discontinued. Thanks in advance.

honestly I have no idea how many miles I get on them.  I dont ever pay attention.  The rocks here in SD are so sharp and jagged that my 40s already have some chunks ripped out of the lugs :maddest:.  That price sounds pretty good, I have never bought a set of 37's brand new, so idk what they normally go for. I ended up getting my 40s for 325 each including shipping to my house!  It was a damn good deal, found em on ebay from a big wharehouse in Cali. I think it was called Tire and Wheel Depot.  Look on ebay for some 37's and see what you can come up with.

I was hoping you guys could make it up over labor day weekend, I will have a four day weekend then.  The 16-19 kinda sucks for me actually!  I will only be able to wheel with you guys on the 18th.  I'm sure you guys want to wheel thursday, friday, saturday and then drive home sunday?

I have never needed a spare and I have been wheelin on radials for five years!  I'm sure as soon as I am not carrying a spare with me, I will need it.  Also considering I dont have on-board air or anything of that nature, I always feel alot more safe carrying a spare.

I  figured you added a spare to weigh the rear down.
that was one of the reasons I wanted one too.  It really helped the rig ride a whole lot more smooth.

You know it man!  gotta rock the spare.  We basically got no pics during the classic.  I got a few pavement pounder photo opps yesterday and I made a quick vid of it crawling into the garage in double low :disturbed:

I was out taking some pics the other day and realized that I have never really posted any pics of the engine swap.  So I got a few of that and I also took some pics of the rig with the top and doors off (it looks way better that way IMO)  Engine bay is pretty dirty, I am scared to get in there and spray it off with all those wires and sensors everywhere!
