Ok so this morrning   at 9:30am  i was sitting on my computer sipping :coffee:  and i heard a noise then bam  :willynilly:   i ran out side  a BIG freaking Tree fell on the house :willynilly:

So this tree is like 80-90 feet tall  and about 18" round :dunno:    we have had 8" of rain this month and winds last 2 days.
The tree guys came with in a hr of this happing and the insurance agent even came 2 day  we are getting a new roof   :disturbed:

So theres like 6 holes in the roof  you can see where the one branch went in to my moms room.

O and the only reason where both alive  is its a log home and not a frame house. The solid wall and 6x6 rafters absorbed all the force of the tree.  If it was a frame house the tree would of went right threw and :goodnight:

I guess that's one way to usher out the old year! Glad everyone is alright.

Out of curiosity, how does one get a fallen tree off of their house?  :dunno:    Crane? or start cutting?

Depends how big, but you always have to cut it it at some point.  The main idea is to first not do anymore damage.  if part of the tree is still hanging above the roof you would not start cutting as the top section would come crashing down for example..

We left our fire wood standing till we were ready to cut it up.  We would remove the bark around the trunk in a strip about eight to ten inches wide. The tree died and dried standing in place.  No wood on the ground to get lost in the snow or rot.   :disturbed:

Wow, glad everyone is OK. Hope it's not too much of a hassle to get that thing out there and the roof fixed.

There's more pics  my sister has them   there just the 10 pics she pick out 2 send to the insurance guy.

They started with cutting off the canopy  then down the trunk.    there is always a danger of crap happing but the tree behaved its self.
