I found a 10 bolt front and a 12 bolt rear for 200 bucks. I think I am just using the rear and getting a 44 for the front. I found one of those for 100

I am doing some research on what is stronger. A 10bolt front axle or a dana44 front axle. So far I have read that the 44 is just a little stronger but has more for aftermarket support

well which ever will be easier to upgrade and do things with and still have the strength.... go with that... hell sell off the 10B front and get some money back to buy a D44.

Just use the 10bolt  its a great axle.  dont get into the hype of the d44 is better because its really not.  they are very on par with each other.  the R&P in the 10bolt is gigantic  and the shafts while only 28 spline  do not neck down as severe as the d44 which means they will  take a little more. Just do as you were talking about doing in a 44,  toss some chromos and gears in it and beat the piss out of it  you really wont be disappointed.

did any 10 bolt or 12 bolt rear axles come with discs? or is there a disc break swap for either of those axles?

K so let me get this straight.

A 10 bolt front is better? What about high steer and after market support. Like gears and a locker? What tire would it handle up to?

Ive never looked for a disk kit for a 10/12b rear  but they are used alot in the muscle car  and hotrod crowd so im sure there is one out there. but no they did not come with disks  atleast not untill way late 90/2000's for a 10bolt rear.   As  for the aftermarket for a 10bolt front  there is everything for it just as a dana 44.   Gears up to 5.56  ( i personally run 5.13 gears in my 10bolt)  all the types of lockers including ARB's, Chromo shafts  etc.

For hysteer you will have to get a flat top knuckle for it  ( off a dana 44 or buy one from a vendor)  which you would technically have to do anyway unless you knew someone to machine the flattop  off a d44 you had.   Then all you have to do is a get a hysteer kit for a dana 44. Basicly from the inner C out is interchangeable with a d44 including the stub shafts.  The inner shafts, gears, pinion flange will not obviously though.

As for tires ive ran 37" mtrs , 38.5 " TSL's and 39.5 Boggers with only breaking 1 shaft. Mind you im welded in the front and i was in reverse double low and tires at full lock backing up saddle lake  with all the weight of my truck on the front end. I know Thor ran 40's on the welded 10 bolts in his old chevy and he had no problems.  Aswell as Andrew Souza running 44" tsls and 49" iroks on his 10bolt with minimal problems.  So take that for what its worth.
