82 22r oil geyser
« on: Dec 14, 2008, 12:36:50 PM »
so i was going to the snow and i was messing around in two wheel drive getting my rpms up and the next thing i know i have oil shooting out the top of my valve cover where that line goes back to the air cleaner not the pvc valve. so my question is what the hell is causing all this blow by. the head is brand new with at most 700 miles and the bottom end has around 200k. please help!!!  :dunno: geyser

usually blow by that bad is caused by the rings being worn out (engine needs rebuilt) but you might want to check the pcv valve make sure its working.

i think you answered your own question,  did you check piston - cylinder clearance when you had the head off?? did you do a compression check before replacing the head??

Yeah - high revs in an old motor plus loads of oil all over the place usually means you blew a chunk of a ring from the stress and everything's taking the easy way out...(instead of slow blow-by which most of these old trucks get over time)  I'd have also suggested a gasket or valves, but 700 miles is too new unless you literally just about put it in backwards.
