FULL WIDTH vs TOYOTA AXLES????
« on: Nov 29, 2008, 05:32:12 PM »
Im in the process of getting a new crawler. The truck has toyota axles with bobby longs in the front, running 37 bfg's.  I plan on running a taller wider tire aprox 37x14.50 17.  What would be stronger running 44 in the front and a 14bolt rear?  Can anyone suggest anything as far as input?  So is a 44 stronger than a toyota w/ bobbys??  or should I step up to D60's?  Please PM or let me know what you guys are thinking??  THAKX :beerchug:

toy front with longs is stronger than a 44, if u got the money go with 60/14 bolt, unless u are just looking for full width, dont waste the time on a dana 44

if your only running 37"s go toyota with 30 spline longs and longs hub gears, beef up the knuckle studs and you should be fine, stay light stay cheap, keep it yota........

according to bobby longs chart the 30 spline yota axles are comparable to a stock 60, or am I misreading the chart?

Full width, 60's front and rear, or do it a little cheaper with a T100 rear.

FJ80 Axles aren't quite full width but they're about 7" wider than the standard solid mini axle.   You can get longs for the front of it too, which are bigger and stronger than the mini's and they came standard with the high pinion 3rd.   The rear 3rd is unique to the FJ80 but it is a fill floater from the factory.   If you look hard enough you can find ones with factory diff locks.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.
