1991 x-cab DD build-up
« on: Nov 08, 2008, 12:23:20 PM »
ok so I picked up a 1991 x-cab v6 last night with a bad 3.0l (go figure).... I am planning to build this as a DD/mild wheeler for around here in the mountains and keep it street legal and drive-able.... I will be doing SAS and 3.4 swap shortly then I will be using my 5" all pro springs and prolly go with some 35" MTR's or something of that sort.... here are some pics of her!

junk 3.0l

there is some rust on it as it came from alaska should be easy enough to fix

and a nice ding in the bedside

the previous owner had started to bob the bed but never welded it back together

the interior is decent but needs some good cleaning

ya the other one is just waiting on money for metal and exhaust and I traded a car I got for free for this truck so it worked out great if I ever get the title for it... the kid said hopefully by next weekend he will have it... I still have the title to the car and it has no tags so he will want that sometime...

the 4-runner was rolled and smashed in the front passenger side...nothing special besides the motor and e-locker

oh okay, that's all i was asking for... like was it just a donor rig that he got sick of it or something.. or if it was totalled.

guna use the rear axle?

it was totalled...he justed picked it up from the junkyard to get the motor and e-locker...we ended up not taking the locker cause they wanted to much money for it

I finally got feeling good enough to get some work done on this pile! I got her all cleaned out and starting to look a tiny bit better! I also got the bed bob welded up as well as I started sorting out some of this damn rust... there is a little more than I thought but I can handle it....here are some pics....

interior is a little cleaner!

got the bed put back together... the kid I got it from cut too damn much out I think but oh well I cant afford a new bed...

here is some of the rust issues I was talking about.... the first one will be a pain in my  :moon: to fix and will need a new piece of metal but I think most of the rest is fixable....

this I can fix

this is already fixed

this side is done except I am going to comp cut it and build a nice 1 1/2" tube bumper for the rear

ya he got the motor, wiring harness, ecu (which is worthless auto anyway) and everything to go with the motor swap as well as the e-locker out of a 99 runner limited for $1300 which is a pretty good deal for around here...we are doing the 3.0l to 3.4 swap on my buddies 93 x-cab right now then mine is getting the 3.4 and SAS...I will post up some pics of the 3.4 swap shortly...

yeah even the stock springs stick out to far
You could leave it and just build a bumper to make up the difference.
I think that might look cool.

I also got the other side of the bob welded up today and then I discovered that that bedside is going to need replaced anyways due to some bad cancer  so I havent comp cut it yet but I am hoping to get that done before it gets dark since I am not messing with anymore body work till after it gets its new front axle and its new motor.....
