don't go bringing butte auto into this, that class is worthless. wheeling a truck once is all you need to be an expert. even if it was IFS  :sly:

Sounds like bad wiring to me. Check your engine and chassis ground wires and your hot going into the fuse box.
I had to get fresh battery cables for the truck to even jump start. So those are new, but the hot -> fuse box could be an issue. the P.O. did some ghetto wiring with it  :shake:

whats with the stack of metal underneath your driver side leaf spring?

nice looking truck i like the color
That ugly metal under the spring is the spring spacer pad. That was one of the first times I ever welded. The spacer makes it so you can use the same leaf springs on either side. I mentioned something about it earlier in the thread.

yeah on the stock trucks they had a different spring on the driverside to compensate the weight of the driver on that side, so in order to sit level with matching aftermarket springs you need to add that littel spacer pad

My brother gave me that little treasure after he snapped the output flange off in a celebratory manner. Which works, because I ain't gonna need the output on this sucka! Except having the output snapped off didn't help. Made it a  :censored: to get the gears off cause the end was all warped and jagged. Anywho, ToYoCrAwLeR(my brother) and I are gonna finish up the crawl box tomorrow.

I have come to decide I am probably going to hold off on the clutch, depending on how bad it is when we pull the tranny out. I'd like to keep that ~$200 in my pocket, and I am starting to believe it is more my tranny/other than the clutch. So we'll see when the tranny is dropped. I'll just keep the T-case mated with my tranny now as a spare, or sell it. And I also have the W56 tranny that was in front of the top-shift I bought, that I can sell or something.

Nawh, I cleared off a spot on the bench in my garage.
And no, I ain't wasting that top-shift, it wasn't Kasey's and I took it back to Richard's. Him and Alex were replacing the head gasket on like an 80's Dodge Caravan...  :biked: That can't be fun.

Yeah whoda known the garage had some potential. I wish I had more tools though, and a lift.  :-\
lol, I guess it is one of their vehicles. Kasey was questioning why they even have/keep it. Pretty funny though.

It is possible, but seems unlikely. I was pretty sure I had them on the right side. Wouldn't my steering be weird if it was like that? Let me find a pic of someone else's axle to compare to.

Yeah, I put them back on the same way we came off. Grease plug facing front on top. I was browsing the FSM and it was saying something about the steering stops... Which I did mess with, but I can't see how that would have an effect on the wheel?

Yeah, but I don't believe it's the knuckle bearings. I'll get it aligned, and go from there. That wheel stud ~seemed~ like it helped, but maybe that was in my head, too.

i doubt that did anything. because its still tight everywhere else and it wasnt just on the part where the stud was plus im missing studs and not having anyproblem with that

Good News/ Bad News situation today.

 :)Good News:
I purchased a MSD Blaster Ignition coil (I thought my coil was bad) and got that installed.
I wired up a better hot cable from the battery to fuse box.
After that, I was POSITIVE that my truck would run like a dream. Only to start it and find some problems...

 :(Bad News:
Still idles like a loser, revs like it's gutless, and it even backfired a few times.
And, I couldn't tell if my fresh hot wire helped my system at all because my cluster lights no longer come on and I couldn't read the voltmeter.  :-\

That being said, I have some good that came from the bad. Finally, I took off my distributor cap to open up to a pile of  :pokinit: where the hot wire came in. The whole thing was completely detiorated/vaporized/dust. However, I was really happy to see this. I imagine if I replace that cap and rotor, this 85 EFI will purr like the beast it should be.   :driving: I should have inspected that distributor first!  :smack:
I am really not sure why my cluster lights don't come on anymore, but that isn't a big deal to me right now. I'll get all the minor electrical stuff figured out later.

I'll snap some pics of this menagerie tomorrow in the light.
I hope it dumps snow tonight here in Paradise.  :crossed:
