A Sad Site to See
« on: Aug 12, 2008, 08:21:07 PM »
I saw this over on TTORA.   These are a load of Tacoma's with rusty frames being hauled to the crusher.

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

It's not BS Toyota is doing a buy back due to issues with the frames not being properly treated. Now as to crushing them intact I don't see that but you never know.

if toyota is buying htem back, i wouldn't doubt it.... what is a corporation going to do with a bunch of scraped trucks?

maybe sell them @ auction as salvage.... but thats about it..... same as the insurance companies do with the crashed cars

I think they'll want them crushed to make sure they don't find there way back to the streets. Now as to the parts that are good that would be up to Toyota on weather the parts go with the vehicle or can be parted out.

It is sad to see, but it's a toss up what toyota would actually do with them if they were buying them back.  I'd think they'd be far likelier to go to some yards than straight to be crushed!  :pokinit:, I'd even rather see them end up at TAP than in a crusher...

Yes they are rusty frame recalled buyback trucks.  They will not sell them as salvage because they don't want the liability nor do they want to risk them getting back out out on the street.  They are being crushed and sold for scrap metal.

this makes me sad :(  but just like Mazda who crushed about 4700 brand new cars for insurance reasons (read here for more info - http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080429/FREE/360566202/1024 ), Toyota will crush these.  They will slice every tire, cut every rim in half.  It sucks.

That might be possible - though you'd likely have to pay them the few hundred dollar fee to yank it.  I can't imagine a smaller dealership not being willing to do this sort of thing to make a little profit on a slow day.
