:headshake:   her doctor said  a "nuclear test" they did last week showed a "shadow" on her heart,  idont know what a "shadow" is but  she goes in tomorrow at 7 am  for a angiogram,  she's had 3 angioplasties before,  they go up in her leg  all the way to her heart with a wire/camera thingy, then  open the clogged parts with this balloon thing

anyway,  my stress level is a little high,  cause last time she had this done they said she would need open heart surgery :ack:

  this is how we lost Dad

so say some prayers for Mom tonight, i'll be at the hospital till we know something aka most of the day tomorrow  :thud:

you got her in my prayers too buddy

germ

I'll keep your mom and you in my prayers. Let us know how she's doing.

The "shadow thingy" is usually an area of the heart that does not take up as much of the radionucleotide they use to evaluate perfusion (the special dye they use to see if her heart is getting enough blood). A shadow usually indicates that there is one area that does not get as much blood as the other areas. Does not absolutly mean she's having/has had a heart attack, but if that area gets stressed, and cannot get the blood flow it needs, then heart tissue could start dying, and that is not good.

The Doctor is probably just being cautious, especially if she's had 3 angio's in the past. Angiogram is the gold standard. Not only is it diagnostic, but it is also theraputic (they can put in a stent if needed while they're checking the whole thing out). Majority of people do absolutly fine, without a single complication. some will have some groin pain for a week or so after the procedure. Just have her take it really easy afterwards so that the femoral artery can heal, and she should do OK. let me know if you have any questions/comments/concerns/complaints/compliments/cookies/cake/carrots (sorry, got carried away)...

Glen I hope everything goes good.  Tell her  :smooch:

79coyotefrg

well, they did the angiogram, at 9am,  at 11 they came out and told us everything went ok,  the problem was she had a 75% blockage, and thats why the "shadow" was there

they used a roto rooter  and  then put a little tube inside the artery to keep it open, a "stent"  i think is what they called it

im EXHAUSTED,  :goodnight: :thud:
