So I'm on the freeway in Fremont just cruising with the rest of the traffic (speed is usually 80mph for the morning commute) and I look down at my speedo and I'm doing 102!!!!! SO IS EVERYONE ELSE!!!!! I was like Holy Crap!
Commute speed is increasing more and more, it used to be that I would be passing everybody doing 80, now everyone is hauling ass. It doesn't help that their are no cops to be seen in my 55 mile commute. I think I have seen one or two in the last two years.

What is your commute like?

Most of my commute is back roads, or local highways. I'm on the interstate for about 2 miles and just stay in the right lane doing 55-60 mph (50 mph limit).
Going home I take all back roads cause the interstate is always backed up then, but not on the way in.

Depends on what station, but right now, 25 miles on the freeway.  No big deal, go 65 the whole time (since I figured out that I get 22mpg in my diesel that way )  Most people are usually right around 65-75, not many go faster.  I usually see a few NHP on my way too.

My commute is 100 miles round trip and is about the equivalent of being a bleeding gold fish swimming 100 miles in shark infested waters....I go through at least 2-3 speed traps every day. Traffic speeds as an average aren't usually much more than 80 MPH, once the CHP appear everyone cruises 55 mph.

I catch the city bus at the end of my driveway and ride down to a little ferry boat that takes me within walking distance of work.  About 50 minutes total each way.

Speed limit is 65 on the way to work.  I usually go about 70, but if a string of cars comes through going faster I'll fall in with them.  I was going 75 today and noticed a white ford expedition going a bit faster, they passed probably going over 80 and just before they got past I thought "I'll bet there's an exempt license plate on it..."  and  :yesnod:  there was.  Oh well, they kept going and I just kept my speed.

We have one of those also and it scares the piss out of me every time I see it.

The cool thing is though, they have the new licence plate speed reader! It's completely bad ass. 1000 licence plates per minute and all he does is drive on 580 from the altamont to Oakland and back all day catchin the bad guys. He doesn't seem to concerned about speeders. You can see the camera in the front grill, and also one in the back window, laptop in the center, GPS on top, and inset lights. It's a giant slicktop.

the other day when i was coming home on hwy 5 towards sacaremto i looked down and with the speed of traffic we were going 110mph which i am surprised that my 4runner/crawler could go that fast.

Honestly, it coulda been any county or local gobmt rig.  My friend works IT for the county and sometimes drives a similar exploder or expedition.  Chp has begun using a tahoe, can't tell you what color cause it's one of those odd ball colors I can't place, but when you see it on the side of the road with the dash lights blinking you kinda double take.

Yeah, mine is a regular patrol slick top tahoe with a blue jean driving.

Speed limit is 65 on freeways here in Fresno, and if you are going over 80, you are seriously asking for trouble.

I try to stay at 70-75 and I get passed still.

But EVERY SINGLE DAY on the way home from work, I will see at LEAST one CHP (highway patrol) giving someone a ticket on the shoulder. CHPs are everywhere on the east end of highway 180 here. Bad idea to be speeding there.

My commute is 9 miles on this road:

Speed limit is 55 but I typically can go anywhere from 50-65 depending on who's in front of me.  Gotta watch for Amish buggies too!
RIP Kyle, we love and miss you man.  :smooch:

speed limit here is 65, i usually try to go no more than 70 at a cruise just because i dont need anymroe tickets.....

my drive routinely consists of 20 miles @ night around 3 am on highway 880 north...... cops hide real well at night time, and there usually isnt too many cars on the road @ that time... pretty much just working people , or criminals

I use to commute from San Mateo to Saratoga on 280 and the speeds were around 70-80 but now if I'm not driving during commute hours it's like 65 in all the lanes. I think ppl are slowing down. I get stuck behind more ppl doing 55 now more than ever.

It takes my truck longer to warm up, than driving to work.  I live 2 miles according to GPS.  I tried riding my bike to work, but damn, but I really don't like having to ride on the road with loaded log trucks inches from ya!  :yikes:

When I'm on the freeway, I usually just tuck in with the crowd.  If the consensus is doing 80, that's what I'll do.  I really don't like anything over 90.

I drive 26 miles each direction in beautiful mountain back country roads. If there are more than 2 cars on the same stretch of road then I'm in a traffic jam. Typically can't do more than about 50 because of the turns, but there are some straight aways, where I'll hit 75-80. Rarely see a CHP, but when i do, he's on his way somewhere in a hurry and could care less about what I'm doing.

Two stop signs and 1.3 miles each way.  Speed limit is 25MPH, however my shoes cant get going that fast since gas has gotten so high!
