got home from table mesa today about noon, had to cut the trip short because I bent my skid plate which made my tcase ebrake disc cut through the fuel line. Other than that it was an awesome trip! we got out there at 11am saturday and started on lower terminator. The truck did awesome as usual, It made a few lines that it didnt before. We met up with 2 buggys at the end of terminator and ran predator, then I ran annihilator with them. Lifted the front wheels a few times, but I took a safety strap to avoid goin over. This morning we ran dirty sanchez, then my fuel line turned into a geiser.

yeah man, a cage and injection are the next 2 on the list. I sold my marlin cage and a tcase adapter, so I should have enough money to have one build soon

update time.

Not this weekend but last weekend we did a trip to table mesa. It was a less than ideal trip, 95 degrees at 8am. it as about 107 for a high... Big jump from 90 something last weekend. anyways, we got to the river bottom at 815 and decided to run collateral damage first. tony broke a rear driveline, cut a valve stem and lost a bead on the entrance. other than that it went pretty smooth. I kept stalling on the fall, but I found out theres not a line my runner wont starter crank up on it. The exit was more difficult with 300lbs of water in the tires, ended up with a good pile of rubber on the rocks. I was the only one to drive it unassisted. after that my friend chris lost an alt pulley and his belt which drives his steering. Him and tony headed back to the tow rigs along with 3 other rigs because of the heat. It ended up bein me and neil. we ran terminator and had the most off day ever.... Kept gettin hung up and the bugs were relentless so we called it a day. hung out at the river for a few hours and cooled off then loaded up and left

How long have you been running the stock birfields?  And did you have any of them break on you?

I ran the stock bifs for 3 runs on 35's over a year ago and suprisingly they did not break. I am running 30 spline longs now and I am at the upper limit of them.

Guess its about time for an update. I decided to not go with the stickies because of a lack of 17in beadlock funds, so the iroks are stayin for this winter. I yanked the cab off of my parts truck last weekend and am preparing it for battle..

This round consists of r151f trans, 23 spline duals, 4.7 rear case, long output, flat belly, narrowed front end, front suckdown winch, fuel injection or propane swap, and most importantly, ROLL CAGE!

2 days after I sent my injectors to witchhunter I found a propane kit on a truck at the junkyard, $2 later im considering running propane vs FI. Im going to do some frankenfab this weekend and see if the kit works.

I may not get my new tcase stup in until december or so, waiting on marlin to get another batch of 23 spline r10's. If you have one youre willing to part with, let me know  :beerchug:

A cage should be at the top of your list. Your 1 flop away from crushing your cab like a beer can. I would say go propane, that way you dont need to swap gas tanks and you will gain some clearance by ditching the tan :twocents:k all together. Plus its less wiring.

peacesells

Yeah it is at the top of the priority list, but its the last thing on the list to be done as I have to get the nice straight un rolled cab on before I have the cage built around it. And if I decide on injection I will be running a 22 gal rci fuel safe instead of the stock tin garbage.

My 23 spline 4.7 gears and long output showed up this week, I have the trans and fuel injection setup already, but I am wanting to do it all in one round when I do the cab swap. I am also going to do a 3rd seat in the rear.

nice! should be a sweet build, cant wait to see some pics.  when i sell my house i will be doing alot of the same mods you are doing. i wanna go propane, three link frobt with air shocks, narrow the front end, and push the front axle forward to a 90 degree approach angle, and also i will be getting longs and 4:7 gearset!  damn i hope my house sells soon!  :disturbed:

Been a while since an update... The pubicon is in pretty sad shape, basically just a frame now. The axles and cases are under my daily driver now, heres the build thread for that rig

http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=53806.0

After the 3rz swap on that rig, im going to start the buggy build with my 84 frame.
Plans are:
5.0 ford obd2 gt40 motor(330hp)
TCI street fightr c4 auto trans
atlas tcase
high pinion kingpin 60 front
full hydro steering
14 bolt or 9in FF disc brake rear
Chassis will be a mix of 1 3/4 .120 DOM and 1 3/4 .250 wall DOM
double triangulated 4 link front and rear with .750 wall lower links and solid aluminum uppers on 1 1/4 heims
coilovers on all four corners
beard seats
auto meter gauges
16gal fuel cell
cutting brakes
Plan is to run 39in krawler red labels.

The only toyota on this buggy will be about 26 inches of framerail (section with the vin) and possibly a narrowed fj40 grill :)

Once you get to a point, the toyota stuff has one weak link after another. It works great with up to 37in tires, but once you start beatin on it with bigger tires or red labels, the weak links start coming out. Even though my crawler never broke on 39.5's with water in the fronts, it was getting scary on the harder trails. Were I to put some stickies on it, the days would have been numberd. So I decided to make a full blooded toyota camping/light trail rig out of my other runner and donate this one to the memory pile. I will continue the buggy build in this thread, as it will still be the pubicon at heart. Keep your eyes out in the coming months  :beerchug:

Oh my lord damn this is a sick truck I love that look thats what im going for hopefully got a question about your rear flex. What size tire is that your pulling onto on one of those last pictures? because I have a set of marlin imports and i pull onto a 35 inch tire and my rear passanger comes up off the ground about 2 inches and i see that yours is still on the ground kinda makes me rethink about these particular marlins and shoulda just ran chebies.
