This is the fruit roll up, number 1990930940 of 299020949404903493 projects I have going on at the moment, its an 84 runner. I paid $800 for it, has a marlin dual case setup, 5.29's, lockrites f/r, stiff 3 inch springs, 2 inch body lift, 35's on 15x10 wheels and plenty of body damage from a parking lot roll.  I bought it as a parts machine for my other 4runner sas, but put a battery to it and the thing runs great.. I had a set of 35 tsl's sittin around, so I mounted those, ripped off the terrible looking bumpers, texas 1 ton style drop down steps, and the fullsize spare that was wedged between the shackles, and this it what she looks like..

In the last 2 weeks i got rid of the body lift, put the 4 inch allpro springs I had on the front, u bolt flip kits, high steer etc.. measured 30.5 inches before lifting a wheel on my hillbilly rti ramp

dovetail and a floor jack

Since these pictures, I put a set of chevy springs under the rear, ripped the front axle apart for new seals and 30 spline longfields, gussets, trusset, diff armor, then I ran across a killer deal on a 529 diff with an arb. As soon as that gets here, its time to weld the ifs box mount on and taker out.

$2000 combined for 2 runners isn't bad, especially those two!  The white one looks a lot like norcalyoter's rig too.  I see some great deals on craigslist, but never when I have enough money, or they're too far away or have questionable titles/owners.

some progress and a few steps back. I got my new crossmember in, my new rear differential from marlin, and my used arb differential but the gears were not set up correctly so the drive side of the ring gear is gouged badly and has over 5x more backlash it should have.. hopefully he doesnt screw me over and takes it back.. I got it from mt logan off road in logan utah, and they said it was in excellent shape so... hopefully.
but on the upside, I called marlin monday about a 5.29 diff with a spool. They built it and shipped it out the same day!! THANKS MARLIN!!!! it looks like im going to be ordering an arb hi pinion next paycheck.. good news for you, bad news for my wallet.. haha. I also got my new rc crawler in (that I now wish I didnt spend the money on) haha

I got some more work done. Work has been non-existant the last week, so ive been putting in lots of time in the 4runner. I got the rear suspension finished, made a rear shock mount crossmember, got the front hoops intalled, and finished all of the gusseting on the front axle.

I bought a v6 ifs rear end on friday for $220, ended up being full of rust, missing brake parts and needing new wheel bearings. $350 later and its all done. I spent my birthday welding my new shock, mounts spring perches, and differential armor on the housing, and bolted my 529 spool carrier in it and it came out nice. Im happy with it,
The front shock hoops were way too tall for 12 inch shocks so I traded a buddy for some 14 inchers. My high pinion 529 arb diff should be here tomorrow so I can finallly assemble the front axle and get it under to measure for my steering box mount and drivelines. I have a trip planned for the 26-28, Im thinkin ill have it ready...

Looks like a great score.  I always like seeing another 1st gen 4 Runner built

Update on the rig.. been kinda lazy computer-wise the past few months.

Front axle is done, gusseted all around, diff armor, 30 spline longs, long hub gears, arp studs. Got the steering box mounted, my $15 junkyard ifs box and hoses work perfect with no leaks!!

New tires/wheels irok balloons on beadlocks----AWESOME!!!!

All thats left is to mount my arb compressor, mount the hydro assist ram, brace the shock hoops, reinforce the rear of the frame, hack away a shatload of sheet metal, tourque everything down, and put some winching points on this tank. Picking up my long spline driveshafts wed and hoping to run highway to hell in florence this weekend!!

Want a Runner or a truck...and a DIRT BIKE!!!

peacesells

I havent posted anything on this for a while, I finished the truck finally and just took it out for its maiden run. Since the last post I put an allpro tcase brake on it, finished my front axle with the high pinion arb and compressor from marlin, got my long travel drivelines made, dovetailed and bobbed the rear. The first trip went very well, lost a nut off of a rear spring perch, my arb line popped off, and my tcase ebrake disc was rubbing the body a little bit. Other than that the truck was flawless, no denials, no backups, and no slipping off of lines. ran some trails in florence az, elvis and martinez canyon saturday and lower woodpecker sunday, heres a few of the pictures! Ill get the good pictures up when I get my buddies memory card
