I'm at the point where I'm pulling down my glasses on my nose to read.

I really don't want to commit to bifocals (or progressives) yet, so

Has anybody tried these:

Since it's reversable, I figured I could find out if bifocals are for me without the full commitment (and prices) of new glasses.

I have a mono-vision prescription for my contacts...distance in one eye, close in the other. Works ok for me.

Why are you against bifocals?  If they help you see then it makes life better.  I have worn bifocals most of my life but am currently wearing a single vision pair of glasses.  I tried the progressive and I couldn't adjust to them.  If it's a fashion reason for not wanting bifocals they have no-line lenses.

Isn't no-line bi-focals progressive bi-focals? Anyway, I have no-line, they do take some getting used to but now that I am I love them.
I have been near sighted (is that right? I can't see far) since 8th grade and still can see close better without my glasses on, but it sure beats having to take the glasses on and off every time you want to read, not to mention I couldn't read maps on the road either.

I think you're correct.  I was remembering a no-line lense that wasn't a progressive but couldn't find anything online.  My dad is an OD so I've been able to try about any combination that I wanted.  The progressive lenses lasted about two weeks.  I also tried having different prescriptions in each lense and couldn't get used to it, gone after a couple of weeks.  If my vision was different enough I'm sure I would be forced to deal with it, but so far I have not been at that point.

I'm not necessarilly against bifocals, but I don't want to spend money on new glasses and be stuck with bifocals if they drive me nuts...............

If you don't mind the looks, just ask them to set the line a bit lower than the standard to minimize the impact for distance vision.  My dad always had my line set high to make sure I couldn't possibly do close work through the distance portion of the lense.

Just accept that they will drive you nuts...  which they will, at first.  Be careful jumping across ditches or creeks.   :o

You'll eventually get used to them.    :yesnod:

:yesnod:  They drove me nuts, but now I would never go back. It's way better than having to constantly peer over the glasses or take them off.
