So yesterday I was heading to my sister-in-laws house for the UFC fight and about 2 miles from her home my tire decided to tear off in ony big piece going 70 mph on the freeway. Unfortunantly the bed has a small  :shake: dent in it now, curled the driver side rear panel and bowed the entire driver side of the bed... blew out the rear tail light and dented the bumper.

Yea it could have been much worse, yea i'm a LITTLE pissed about it but there's nothing you can do...

I'll be heading to the autobody on Tuesday to asses the damages.

Funny thing is, I havn't driven the truck in a month or so. I drove it over to my parents the day before and noticed that it had a small vibration but thought nothing of it. Figured the tires had flat spots from sitting so long... well ... I found my vibration!  and my vibration found the driver side bed of my truck.

Radials don't flat spot....  Separated tires sure do though! :hahaha:

Nice damage, gonna be loads of fun fixing that one.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Shamb

yea i'll probably be fixing it myself to save some $$$

which blows me away Rocksurfer because about a month ago I was pulling some idiots out of a 5 acre mud hole in BFE with my Toyota and I had one of the guys watching the front passenger fender because I was close to his sisters Honda...... weeeeeeellll.......... apparently he wasn't watching good enough and next thing I know I hear this loud CRUNCH!  I immediately think to myself ".. great.. I just shattered the front light and bent the bumper"     NAH!  it crunched the front of her car pretty good but didn't do a single thing to the truck...

THEN... about 3 weeks ago my wife was driving my truck to work because we were in the process of selling her car.... long story short.. she doesn't understand the fact that this is a long bed and you have to turn WIDE into places.... completely rip's off the front bumper of her Jetta and scratchs the hell out of the side of her car.... so she call's me.. tell's me what happened.. I was mainly worried about the truck... I came home to find absolutely nothing. It was on the passenger side which you can tell look's perfectly fine.... so the truck has stood up to some hit's.. but this apparently was the iceing on the cake.

i blew a cap off (and btw  that  looks like a recap, or a bridgestone/firestone )  a recap  on my bigrig one time,  it was on the trailer  on the outside ,  when it blew it  ripped the freekin bottom 2 door hinges off,  leaving the door  flopping

it was a mess :headshake:

not to mention the 2x2x.250 angle iron mudflap bracket  and the 3x8x.120 rear bumper

That happened to me too on the rear inside dual, it actually broke the rear springs.

WHITE_TRASH

Its not a recap.  The inner and outer separated and the air entering the into the structure caused the to tread come off.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Shamb

and what causes that WT?

Defect in the tire?

The tread was good, hauled my toy on the trailer a few times and a camper/boat a few times.... nothing extremely heavy.

Ouch!  After checking out the sheetmetal damage, my first thought was what kind of tire was it?  Looks like a Cooper...

And yeah a rear tire explosion at speed could have been real nasty, so I guess you were lucky there.  Glad there was no accident!

WHITE_TRASH

Possible defect but most of the time its just a fluke deal....  Running a tire at too low of a pressure or overloading it can cause it.

Heck a kid in high school jumped a cressida and upon landing separated all 4 tires at once....  They didn't explode but all 4 of them were out of round and bulging from the separations...   :o

Same thing happened to me a few years back. I was driving my Honda Accord on the freeway, noticed a little vibration then BOOM. my tire looked just like that. They were 4-5 month old Toyos, I contacted my tire installer and they contacted Toyo, long story short I got 4 brand new tires out of it. They told me it was a defective tire.

At least it was on the back.  If it were on the front you might have lost control.  You can have a tire separate for many reasons.

Just put a flat bed on it!  Might be cheaper than fixing the bed.

That's what I heard as a kid...  but I have since had it explained that when a rear tire blows, the back end of the vehicle gets squirrelly and you have little control of it -- when a front tire blows, you can somewhat control the erratic pulling with steering input.  Makes sense to me, and I'm happy to say I haven't tested either theory!

For a bed side sprayed and a tail light?
Man thats spendy.
Change the bed side yourself and just have it sprayed if you cant match it.
As for the tail light, ebay, for no more than 30 bucks shipped.

Yea I'm doing all the work so it shouldn't cost that much.

There's a ton of misc stuff they put into the estimate.
