Yea, sounds like fun. Ive got an 85 toyota so its got some marlin stuff on it. I think i might be able to make it. Is The Man, Marlin going to be there? It would be awesome to meet him.

Oh, and it is $40 per rig, right? Just want to make sure before i send the registration.

The $40 includes: campsite for the weekend, t-shirt for the driver, dinner for the driver, grand prize raffle ticket for the driver, and dash plaque. All other meals, t-shirts, raffle tickets for other prizes, etc. are extra. Remember, all monies from the raffle go to Friends of the Rubicon to help keep that trail open.

what is the latest you can sign up for the event. because i don't know if im gonna be in school or not.

I will most likely keep the registration open until mid-August. That will probably be the latest time I will accept registrations since we have to plan for meals, t-shirts, etc.

In other words, you need to get your registration in by August 15th at the latest.

Hello All,

I really want to make this roundup, but I have some concerns. :conf:

#1 My experience level is minimal at best. I have never really been on a tough trail and I definitly don't want to be the one clogging up the trail for everyone else. :smack:

#2 My rig is mostly daily driven and I will have to drive it 5 hours to get there, will it survive if it is driven cautiously and of course I would be using the bypasses?

I guess those are my two biggest questions/concerns.

My rig is an 1984 Toyota 4runner running 33" bfg mud terrain tires, Marlin installed 488 gearing & ARB lockers front and rear, rebuilt motor, Marlin transmission and a rebuilt Marlin geared 4.7 T-case.  I have rock sliders but not much else for protection.

Anyway, I would like some input from those of you that know the con.

Thanks
Mike.

BLACKDOG

Obviously I cannot promise no breakage, but you've got good odds.  The con can certainly be done with your set up, esp. with you taking the bypasses.  Not to mention, with all the people on the trail, this would be a great opportunity to improve your wheeling skills, as well as get to meet some new people

drive smart and don't use the skinny pedal, you'll be fine.  Hey, I hear even an AMIGO made it thru a couple times. :gap:

Just Myths really.  :gap:

Take it easy and you should be good.  I made it through on 31's and a lot of rock slider with my 4.7's and aussie.  But then again I didn't take it too easy.

you'll have a blast.  Bring spare everything.

If that made it, you could. Besides there are tons of people ready to help out.

Hootman made it in his open, stock IFS Runner. With a little help from his expert spotter. :gap:

Thank you for the responses

If I can make it, what route is the most obvious for the less experienced or outfitted?  Or is it just a matter of follow the group and have fun?  I have been watching you tube videos and it looks like a blast, but pretty difficult as well.

Thanks Again.

BLACKDOG

Its pretty obvious.   Also, and group that is there is going to be able to send you on the proper line.  Stay in contact with me over the next month or so, and we'll see if you can join the group I'm wheeling with.  We always have a wide range or experience, and levels of built rigs.

Where are you coming from?

probably won't have another engine built and not going to risk it on a bad rod bearing blowing through the block.

Other than that, I'm totally there! :gap:

Once it gets closer to time for the roundup, a caravan thread usually gets started, for the people coming from a ways away.  Tater Salad already started one for the Idaho/ PNW guys,  but thats how it works.  There's a lot of guys usually coming from your area, so you'll probably be able t convoy up with them
