we have to have everything on that list?

you should have most of it anyway, on regular wheeling trips.  These are all very good things to have, for safety reasons.  :dunno:  The CB is really the only thing I don't see as a necessary thing, as long as someone in your group has one, and MABYE the spare, depending on what kind of tires you have.

we have to have everything on that list?

We adhere to the safety guidelines from CAL4WD and TLCA which is where that safety checklist is derived from.

However, we do not have any "official organized runs", so we are not able to police each vehicle.

Having said that, we provide the CAL4WD and TLCA safety check list as a recommended list of safety and trail preparedness that we STRONGLY URGE ALL ATTENDING OUR EVENT TO FOLLOW AND ABIDE BY.

I, for example, in the past have abided to every rule except for a spare tire (I only have our Ultimate tire repair kit). But this year I will have a spare tire thus fully complying to the safety check list.

I advise everyone to fully comply with the CAL4WD and TLCA check list for yours and the safety of others.

Thank you

so were not required to have a exo or roll cage?  because all i have is the factory samurai roll bar in the back   :-\

Is that CB antenna thing really that big of a deal, I have a 5' antenna, lol a couple inches different, will that be a problem, and I do not have a spare, but am running 38.5 SX's  :qtip: (actually I could borrow a 35" tire for a spare but that would be 3.5 inches diff instead of 3" is this ok) What does a spill kit include? Rags and degreaser?  For my front tow point I have a nice spot where my tow strap goes through the spring hanger, this is what I have always used. Do i actually need a "tow hook" or "shackle" ?
Thanks,,,

RE CB antenna: I believe that restriction came about from back in the days of whip antennas. I used to hear about many injuries caused to bystanders from long whip antennas. For this very reason, hopefully less people use them today compared to the past.

RE Samurai roll bar: The factory roll bar should be right behind the B-pillar, correct? We just recommend everyone to be prepared and be safe. Ask yourself what would happen if your vehicle was involved in a slow roll over? If your seat head rest will hit the ground before your roll bar, then I would be concerned for your safety.

Like mike said, its to keep people from using the whip antennas.  Wheeling in a tree filled environment with a whip antenna is just asking for trouble.
Personally with SXs, I wouldn't worry about a spare, thats what I meant about the type of tire, seeing as how you can run 60 mph hour on the freeway with 0 psi in them :smack:

My spill kit is a bucket, with som paper towels, rags, degreaser, and I keep a shovel in my truck.

I think when they say tow hook or shackle, they simply mean a towpoint, so a recovery can be made

keep in mind this is my interpretation, and the one I've used on this event before.

Basically they just want you to come prepared!

Hey Big Mike!!  Any updates on the list yet?  I sent my registration in!!

Sweet.. #93 on the list. I'm still looking for a group that is going in via the Tahoe side on SAT morning. Also has anybody had any issues with leaving their tow rig and and trailer at the staging area there? I just had some stuff stolen from me and I'm a bit paranoid now. My rig is fully street legal but on runs like the Con it's nice to have the option to trailer it home in case I break it bad.

Monster Yota

So is everyone going to try to be at the Springs on Fri, or are we heading up on Fri, and be at the springs at Fri night/ Sat?   Also I am finishing up my rig, :qtip: (untill i get more money) who all is going up on the loon side that could have another rig caravan in there group? A few guys I was planning on coming up with cant make it...  :outtahere:
Thanks,,  :beerchug:

Marlin & I have parked our trailer & rig there at Loon many a time without having anything bothered. We just make sure that the truck & camper shell are locked up. Other than that, we have never had any problems and we have parked there at least once a year for the past 20 years or so.

We'll be up there sometime Thursday afternoon or evening. We generally like to get an early start on Friday morning and go straight to the Springs. We usually have a good group running with us.
