Thanks everybody I'm really happy it's finally done!  Well, kinda done.  This weekend I need to install the muffler so I can hear my stereo again, i'm also gonna cut and shave the big lip off my 14b, and tomorrow I'm ordering Bobby's cromo t-case shaft.   :yesnod:

Pics of the trail run are on the bottom of page 3 bud.  I don't drive it on the road, it's trailered everywhere.

Tonight I finished the exhaust and got it where I want it...kinda near the fuel tank, only about 1 inch of air gap between the muffler and tank :shakehead: I dont like that.  I shaved and smoothed off the big lip off my rear axle.  Goin wheelin tomorrow about 10 in the mornin after work!

I'm gonna try.  I have to steal the camera from my wife and make a run for the truck.  She wants the camera so she can take pics of her and all the girls making cookies.  It snowed again this morning so the trail is gonna be pretty slick.

Ran billings canyon in the snow the other day.  No pics, the wife stashed the camera.  I'm gonna run it again on sunday so I'll get pics then.  Anyways, we got about 1/2 way through the trail and just started gettin into the gnarly stuff when Dan broke a Chromoly D44 stub shaft.  Luckily he had a spare so we made the fix right there in the snow under the rock lights.  My wife got me a Dewalt Cordless Impact for X-Mas and I made sure to bring that with us, it works fing awesome.  Got the tire off in seconds, got the spindle off quick, love the impact.  We got a really late start on the trail and after we made the repair it was already about 8 at night, gettin cold and totally dark.  So we turned it all around and drove out the way we came.  I plan on making it all the way through tomorrow.

Theyre a 4inch toyota spring.  Not sure of the brand.  Junkyard springs.  I'm all loaded up for another run at billings tomorrow.  When we had to replace that 44 stub shaft we had no flashlight to look down the hub so we used a lighter.  I went down today and bought me a mag light and mounted that in the cab.  Runnin on snow is totally different.  Gotta hit stuff in 2nd or 3rd pretty often.  Can't really crawl on icy rocks, even with the tires down to 2 lbs.  I'm gonna be runnin with a CJ tomorrow with a vortec 350 and 60/14 axles.  I'll get some good pics!

Big dissapointment today.  Got to the first real obstacle and jason was lettin that vortec sing and it twisted off the rear JE Reel driveshaft.  No spare, so we turned around and limped him out.  Really sucks, didn't even make it as far as last time!  That trail is pissed.

I talked to dan in the Tacoma.  He's gettin tired of blowin up chromoly 44 :pokinit: so he's going 1 ton.  He's got a ford HP 60 layin in his garage.  He's gonna go chromoly in and out and full hydro and get it 4 linked in the front.  Takin it to CBI offroad in Idaho to drop it off and basically gonna be a turn key deal.  Right now his rear 60 is narrowed and the front 44 is a Waggy axle.  So he's stuck on either narrowing the front, or gettin a full width 60 in the back.

Wish we had snow for Christmas over here, it's the middle of summer though so I don't like my chances

Broke tonight!  Blew the toy u-joint at the t-case.  It was gay, but I had a spare ready to go with the u-joint already pressed in so it was pretty painless.  Just gay that I was by myself which breaks my #1 rule of wheeling.  I got into a canyon that I didn't like at all so I tried a pretty sick line to get out and just about made it when the truck hopped once and KAPOW!  I was soo glad it was a u-joint.  I intended that to be the weak link so all in all it was a success!

damn dude. time for some big yokes

was that from the rear axle hopping and drooping for a second, making your driveline angle really steep? cause those stock toyota joints can only take so much angle before they want to bind. just a guess

I wasn't really twisted up a even.  It blew just due to alot of tire spin, rpm's, and torque.  I was hammerin it lol.

nope, it wasnt from that, he kept the toy u-joints for the weak link since they are cheap and easy to replace, its better than an output shaft or t-case gears.

toyota u-joints are rated as 1 ton joint so replacing them is pretty pointless.  that's cool that it was easy to fix.  do you have a cromo output shaft in it?
