39.5s are cheaper, stay on the rim way better, less strain on :pokinit:, they get the job done! Theres nothing worse then blowing 3-4 beads during a snow run on 42's, I never blew a 39.5 bead, and I would run 2.5 lbs rear and 3 front in the snow, and with 42's id run 4lbs front 3.5lbs rear blowin beads like crazy

Yeah but you don't need to worry about wear so much when you got a car. But if you were to sell your car I would roll the MTRs for sure. MTRs or SSRs, but I think SSRs are more expensive. That's if you are buying new tires. But if you are just gonna buy used, just roll what you can find for a good deal.

compare some 40" mtr prices to 40'' iroks.... iroks dominate offroad, mtr's do better as a dd

306 for iroks 39.5 and 495 for mtrs.
so iroks are definately the best prices out there.
but whatever i can find used and cheap i dont want to buy new. but i like driving my truck without worrying about killing my tires

so a buddy of mine got rearended by a drunk driver and totaled his pickup.
its a 92 same year as mine std cab.
but its got the 22re and depending on how much he can buy it back from the insurance company i want to buy the motor trans and case off of him. but im just wondering if its worth it and what it all entails to do a 3.slow to 22re swap.
i hate my current motor

Dingman.

you could swap in a 22re.

i would prefer a 3.4.

As far as tires. search pirate4x4. ice seen some good deals on 38"+ tires

wampum

Lose the 3.slow. The good thing is that it is practically bolt up right? All you gotta do is pull the drivetrain and swap the new one in. Just pluggin stuff in. If you can get it off Jason for cheap enough, do it. Heck you can probably sell off your stuff for the same price or more. But there's not really a point to dropping money on it you know. Might as well do a 3rz or 5vz instead.
Kinda funny going from V6 to I4 though huh. Probably doesn't go that way too much.

when its the 3.0 im sure plenty of people swap the 4cyl.
the thing is i cant get a deal on a 5vz like that not to mention the exaust and wiring harness mods.....smog

Dingman.

The thing about the 3.4 is it bolts up to the 3.0's motor mounts and the tranny.  The 22re your going to have to deal with those, plus smog, etc..

Not to mention the a3.4 is such a better engine than the 3.0

808

yeah but my tranny isnt doing too well and i dont like my chain drive case either, the only reason i would do this is beacause the deal i would be getting.

Dingman.

Yea well if the tranny is shot thats hard to say.

I would snag the case and buy an adapter.

But.  The 22res are nice so either way its better than the 3.0 right?  lol

808

yeah well its just sometimes i dont have reverse. like its not there and i have to rock it for like 5 min to get it to go in.
and yeah i loved my old 22r

go for the swap. it sounds like the deal is really good so take it. it should be a peice of cake minus the wiring part.

Did that just start happening?

If i put my tranny in first, before it will go into reverse smoothly.  Sometimes it fights me if i dont'

808

thats what i was thinking, will his wiring harness plug right into my stuff?
