I don't use PS Fluid, it eats the Toy Pumps up and cause leaks.

I've always been told to use Brake Fluid.

Toyota isn't the only manufacture who recommends Dot-3 Brake Fluid in the PS.
never had a leaky pump or box when I used brake fluid.

the Power Steering fluid.... another story. always makes a noisy pump and it leaks.

Idk what you are talking about ive never heard that???

Look at the cap .   TOYOTA recommends dextron 3 ATF fluid in the power steering pump.
So that is what i would use, unless you were in a pinch then whatever works to get you home.

i put in 1985 for the year.   Select toyota, then pickup.

Then for the part, scroll down to lockout hub, 4x4.

Then a different screen will pop up and you can select years 1979-85 or whatever will work, since they are interchangeable parts.  enter you zip and hit search.

Then after that a screen with different junkyards will pop up and you can see what they charged per hub i guess.   Select one and give them a call and order up some hubs!

was it a napa pump?  i once replaced one and withing minutes of installing it the damn thing quite working, napa gave me another one and it worked, so i think that the first one was not properly assembled at the factory.

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

The pump may have been bad from the factory like 86turboyota suggested.

If you want you can have my 3.0 pump.  it was making some noise but if you need one to get it by.
Let me know man its just laying on the garage floor for now.
