Tranny problems
« on: Apr 07, 2008, 12:38:52 PM »
There is a thread on here for me looking for a tranny and the saga continues.  My truck broke down with the tranny exploding on me.  It has a 22R 84 Xtra cab.  I thought since I was on my way to seattle WA that I would park the truck at a friend of a friends house in ellensburg and had to seattle to find a tranny.

I found a transmission thought I was going to be good to go but as it always go somehow it was the wrong tranny.  This is why I am creating this post.

The transmission that is in the truck has the xfer case and tranny shifter on the tranny housing with gear selectors coming out of the xfer case into the tranny.  Which transimission is this?  The tranny that I got just has a space for the tranny shifter on it and not the xfer case and no spot for the gear selectors coming from the xfer case.  I thought I had a G52 or 54 which I read would work or do I have some wierd set up in here.

You should have a g52, and a g54 will work just the same but be a little stronger.

Looking at pictures on here it looks like I got a W-56 dont know whethere A or B.

The engine must have been changed to a carb or this tranny was bolted to a 22R is this possible?

Is the W-56 a better tranny then a G series?  Should I find a xfercase and bolt it up to my 22R?

:D

More than likely the tranny is from another truck.  Yes, direct bolt in, same length, etc.  W's are stronger.

Try to get another W.    T-case will bolt up to either tranny you get.  (G or W)

I found another transfer case for the W tranny so going with the better setup just need to cut a little bit of the floor to make it fit now.
