THK Matt

Aight so id like to see who all wants to convoy down to MCR this year from the Washington/Idaho area.
The Round-Up is September 12th through the 14th, held on the Rubicon in California.
Registration will be open on/after for the Round-Up, May12th
I will be leaving early the morning of the 11th to get a good start. and i wont have to rush.

Anybody who d like to meet up along my route to Cali, let me know. any body along my route is welcome to join up or meet.
Ill be going west to spokane, then southwest to the Tri-Cities, then south across the river and follow it to Portland, then south on 1-5? to cali.
so let me know guys and ill put your name on the list and your location... get an idea of stops we gotta make to convoy up.

Yeah its MONTHS away... but heck why not set some sort of plans now?
get an idea of what we got.
LETS ROCK THE WEST ALL THE WAY TO AND THRU THE CON!

Here's Who I Have So Far Wanting To Convoy.
if your on the list and cant make it, let me know
once the convoy is set.
Ill set it concrete about a month or so before the Round-Up,
so a route can be made, that is the most helpful to us all.

:afro: got a while to get stuff going and ready.
I still have to hopefully sell this truck and get a SFA 4Runner.
and then lift it, and build armour.

quite a few IFS people go thru con... so it wont be a new thing... you can always take the bypasses around the HARDCORE stuff.
armor will be your friend for sure... and get a different transfercase crossmember... as the stock ones HANG way too low.

don't waste your money on a single case xmember...cut the part off of your stock one below the seam and plate it with 3/16" or 1/4" flatbar. free clearance. make a skid bolt on to that if you think you need it.

solar86yota

Sweet sounds like a plan how much for the metal though?
By the time I get the money for an SAS I'll be 65 at this rate!

20 bucks maybe. there is a thread on here somewhere about homebuilt xmembers.

solar86yota

Cool what about sliders... are those MC ones good?

i dented the :pokinit: outta mine last year at MCR...rockers are still fine though.

Rubicon i say minimum sliders one locker.

solar86yota

That's about what I expected from what pics Iv'e seen and what I heard. What about a good skidplate? my stock ones hashed as it is right now. Oh and I like how this turned into a thread about armor for my truck, lol!!

I might be up for a convoy but I don't know if I'm going for sure yet.  We'll see.  I'll let you know.  I'd meet up somewhere.  I don't want to back track to the Tri Cities but I'd meet up somewhere near there.

I've done the Rubicon w/o any armor, the only true section of the trail I didn't do was Little Sluice. Sure there is optional stuff to do but they are not part of the actual trail. [sorry for the jack]

Well then lockers and a lift is a must, gear reduction would be nice. I've run the Rubicon with my 4Runner, it had  an auto and preformed great. I have also wheeled it with a 5 speed with no reduction and it was very challenging to get through. They were both locked f/r so I don't know the challenges that it would present with even a single open diff. The 4Runner was an IFS, and out of all the different vehicles I've taken there it was the best one, but I think that was due to the auto trans.

that auto trans had a lot to do with it... no clutch so it was easy to get going and all that.

Im either guna have dual 2.28s or a single 4.7, welded rear and dont know bout the front yet, sliders and bumpers.

my buddy took his 86 runner with stock suspension, 31's, welded rear, and sliders to mcr5.  the underside will take a major beating and dont expect any bolts exposed on the bottom to ever come out cleanly but otherwise it wasnt bad

Yeah I'm running like a two inch lift right now and 32's. So if I  can get that crossmember worked out and some sliders,  put an aussie locker in the rear and maybe a beefier skid plate and a working e-brake :gap: it sounds like I might be okay.
